Hello my name is Hilary i have been diagnosed with remmiting relapsing. MS

I would like some Advice if possible my diagnosis was confirmed after having a catteract removed and my eye was very blurry for weeks my surgeon sent me for an MRI which showed demylation that was a few years ago about 6 months ago my vision seemed to have deteriorated but the mri showed no new lesions . Up to this present time it has become more worse than ever. My question is if you vision is getting worse should you expect to have a new lesion . Because now im not able to read simple instructions on anything it has to be in large letters before im able to see it

I would very much appreciate anyone who could enlighten me because its all very well saying there are no new lesions but my eyesight is deteriorating many thanks in Advance Hilary

Hi @Hilary57 . I’ve had problems with my vision over the years. It was the first symptom I had 32 years ago now. Lost the sight in my eye almost completely. Had no central vision at all for three months before it slowly returned over the next three months. I’ve lost it twice more since then. Once it was in both eyes. Thankfully it was very short lived on that occasion. I think that it’s my biggest fear with my ms that one day I’ll lose my vision and it won’t return.

I believe that you can get silent progression with ms. You don’t typically have any new lesions but your ms is slowly or steadily getting worse.

Wishing you all the best Hilary and hopefully you won’t lose your sight altogether. As I said, it is my biggest fear.

It might be a case of smouldering MS.

Are you aware of SAW? Would you want to know if you had smouldering MS?

Hi Hilary. Sorry to hear of your problems. This might well be a stupid question but have you had your eyes checked for any problems other than MS .
