Hello, I'm Tina!

Hi there, my name is Tina (affectionately known as Smidge). I’ve got RRMS, was diagnosed about 9 years ago, and refuse to let it define me.

There is all sorts of other interesting stuff about me. Got two cats and I can’t swim.

Maybe not as much interesting stuff as I thought…

Hope to get to know you soon xx

Hi Smidge,

Welcome to the MS Soc website - quite a few newbies this week so you’re not alone.

I’ve got SPMS and have done for nearly 30 years. Just been awarded PIP (personal independence payment) for living and mobility - wouldn’t have applied for or got anything if I hadn’t got so much support and advice from people on this site.

Thanks everyone.

Between all the members we have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Got a question, just ask.

Keep well.

Jen x

P.S I feed 5 feral cats and have a goldfish…goldfish got mentioned in my PIP assessment report ha!

Hi

I am a newbie as only started posting this week, but I have read lots and learnt loads.

The neurologists can’t decide what type of MS I have but not sure it really matters!

They are treating me as RRMS and I take Tecfidera.

I don’t have any pets got a husband and 3 children which is more than enough!

Welcome aboard

Hello Smidge

I’m Sue. Have had MS for 20 years. I was RR but now am SP.

My avatar is my cat, Monte. His picture changes fairly often these days.

I used to be able to swim but when I went to a hydrotherapy pool a couple of years ago I discovered that I most definitely can’t now. My legs don’t work so I basically sink.

I’m a frequent poster on here.

Welcome to the forum. Feel free to start a conversation on anything you want to discuss, get information about, share info, or just because you feel the need. There’s usually someone who wants to join in a conversation.

hi smidge

i have a cat who is the boss.

i used to be able to swim but since ms i can no longer keep afloat!

weird that sue can’t swim after ms too.

perhaps i should have put it on my PIP application.

Hi there! Sadly, I couldn’t swim before MS either, but if I can tell people that it might be MS related I’m all for it purely to cover my embarrassing fear of drowning and inability to stay afloat! I’ve blamed it for years on “heavy internal organs” but I’m not sure anyone is convinced…

Hi there!

Don’t mind at all, you can ask me anything! I was on Avonex, caught something horrible that caused me to have seizures so they moved me off that to Tecfidera which is great.

And in case anyone is worried, the seizures weren’t MS related; I caught viral encephalitis which is no picnic either…!

Hi Smidge and welcome. This really is a friendly and helpful web site.

I too have a cat, his name is Buddy and he is blind and came from Turkey. He bosses our old spaniel Marley

Everyone’s cat is the boss. We are Montes’ bi*ches!!

A dog is your friend and companion. A cat is your Monarch!

Hi Smidge and welcome.

I have had MS about 10 years.

I have a dog (my avatar) and a parrot and I deffinately cannot swim.

So true Ssssue lol x

Morning Smidge, welcome to our exclusive club! I have a Fezbomb, he has a particular liking to insoles & my coal bucket, highly entertaining, highly naughty. He rules the household & takes particular pleasure in terrorising my hubby & my friend’s dog. He is demolishing my hubbies boots as we speak, a morning ritual, I loves him Tracey x

I love Fezbomb (who Tracey omitted to mention is a cute and cuddly ferret) too, even though I’ve never met him. He has made me want a ferret of my very own. Although I don’t think the boss will allow it (i.e. the cat)!

Sue

Sue, really wish we were nearer, I would love to meet Monte (he has smiled & winked at me, top cat!!) & I’m sure Fez would be more than happy to meet you, albeit in his lime green harness (which he hates) as you know! (serious slug impression, not a good look) Tracey xx

Don’t repeat that last comment too loudly. There’s a Slug on this forum you know? Who’ll be most unhappy to hear a disparaging comment about a slugs looks.

But Monte would love to meet you too. I don’t think he’d bee too keen on Fez. Teeth too sharp for an old(ish) cat.

Sue x

Monte will be fine,Fez isnt really bitey, it’s yappy, small, pissy dogs Fez doesn’t like!! Slug, I am not dissing them, but he really does a brill impression of an illuminous green slug & writhes round the garden in protest! Tracey xx

Hi Smidge! Welcome  I used to have a cat and two dogs, frequently have a temporary bat or two, would love a ferret and currently hiding from my tame blackbird who demands food whenever she sees me in the kitchen - she must be feeding a brood atm My right side can swim, but my left arm and leg weren’t so keen last time I tried!

Awww Teal a tame blackbird, how wonderful!
