Gylenia

After the last MRI, it was suggested that i should think about changing my medication since there seems to be activity on the brain which wasnt expected since i dont remember having a relapse.I might have had one but ignored it and get on with my day to day life. Anyway, I used copaxane and rebif before so in the process of starting Gylenia…Positive side of it is obviously stopping the injections but it is a new drug so wanted to see if anyone is on this and had any good or bad experience they would be kind enought to share?

Thanks!

Hi Cev,

I have been taking Gilenya since September 2011 and I am doing well.I have had new symptoms but they weren’t classed as relapses. As for side effects, not really much.My skin and my scalp are much drier and I did have a phase when I had a red rash on my legs, but that’s passed.I do catch colds more easily.

I was on the Gilenya/Fingolimod drug trial for two years (2007 to 2009) and it turns out that I was taking the drug and not the placebo,so really I’ve been on it for over 3 years, with a gap of two years. My neurologist said that it was a shame that I stopped the trial, because in the two year gap,the number of lesions I had doubled. But I’m well and very pleased not to have to inject.

I can’t think of much else.Hope this helps you.PM me if you prefer.

Take care,Brenda x
