First MS Nurse Appt

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all well.

I hope you all can help, my first MS Nurse appointment is in a few hours, I was wondering what I should ask? I’m still at a bit of a loss, should i ask what treatments are available?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

I fear this comes too late, but just in case it doesn’t, there is no need to think up questions for the sake of it (it’s not like a job interview, where you’d better have some good ones, or they’ll think you’re stupid/not interested).

Just ask what you genuinely want to know!

I would very much expect treatment to be raised without you having to ask.

If it isn’t, query it. It might be because you’re not eligible (there are qualifying criteria), but if nothing is said, don’t assume - check.

Otherwise, I hope it all goes/has gone fine, and you’ll find the nurse leads the way with most of it.

They should cover all the basic stuff a “normal” person (haha - normal with MS, that is) wants to know.

Tina

Thanks Tina,

Unfortunately it was too late, but I did like you said and just asked the questions I wanted answering. Now I get to go back in a couple of weeks to decide upon a treatment plan.

Simon.

Hi Simon, glad it’s gone alright, and you just took the commonsense approach, and asked what you genuinely wanted to know.

There’s no point feeling you must ask plenty, just because it’s expected. The right questions are the ones you want to know. Not everyone has the same questions, obviously.

Hope you are able to agree on a treatment plan you feel comfortable with.

Tina

I was given all the options, with a breakdown of the pros and cons, so i think I’ve decided on a DMD to go with, but we will see what the nurse has to say.
