I have foot drop but don’t use FES. Tried it a couple of times but it didn’t work for me. I have used a SAFO (silicone ankle foot orthosis) since 2008 and it’s been wonderful for me in combatting drop foot. It’s very simple to put on. Attach 3 Velcro straps and that’s it for the day. No adjustments needed. I dread to think how my walking would have developed since 2008 without the SAFO.
Been going to a new physio recently and she’s also got me trying a product called kneehab which sends electrical pulses to the quads to try and spark them into life. Like others here, I can’t lift my right leg when seated. Normally the kneehab is used when people are recovering from knee surgery and the physio hasn’t used one on an MS patient before, so it may not do anything for me, but it’s worth a try.
