Feel worse, is this right?

Hi, just finished my first ever course of steroids 2 days ago, since finishing then I’ve felt worse, I seem to have a permanent feeling of pins and neeedles in my feet and lower legs, not the pain just the numbness, my balance feels worse and I feel permanently “spaced out”, like the world is going on around me while I’m sitting back a bit watching it. On the plus side my skin has never looked so good (I’ve had psoriasis since I was 11 which until now has never showed any sign of clearing until now!) boo x

Hi,

Yes, I felt pretty much the same you, except I also felt like I had been run over by a truck and I broke out in spots! They weren’t the miracle cure the neuro made them out to be, but I do think they have worked a bit, just slowly. My eczema also cleared and I had beautiful long nails, a first for me

Fizzy, thanks, forgot the spots!!! But thanks for the reassurance, I s’pose I was expecting some sort of miracle, a take these and it’ll be like there’s nothing wrong, should have known better really. Thanks again, once again this forum if it does nothing else just reminds you that you’re not alone boo x

This happened to me: Neuro explained to me that it’s quite common for symptoms to worsen after taking the steroids - but everything should calm down within a week or two.

He was right, thats exactly what happened.

I was the same with my first (well, only!) treatment- felt great for the 5 days I was on them, then spent a week with tension headaches and feeling like the world was too bright and talking a mile a minute. I forgot to read the little side-effects booklet where it said to talk to your doctor before taking them if there was a history of bipolar disorder in your family…and now I know what it’s like to have a manic episode!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

next time I’m going to ask about having a gradual reduction from them, my stepmom has MS and she is given a slowly reducing dosage whenever she needs to take a steroid course. she said it vastly improves the way you feel afterwards and takes the edge off.

enjoy your lovely skin in the meantime, haha

Guys, thanks. The neuro was keen to get me started on them and I, guess naively, was keen to get them started so forgot to ask the questions that maybe I should have done, I’m still to have an appointment with the ms nurse, which is where I guess most of these kind of questions get answered, I think when I do I’ll arm myself with a list of questions, it’ll save the worry of these “is this normal?” moments, like I’ve said elsewhere this is all still new to me and at the moment feels a bit “trial and error”. In the meantime expect more questions of the “is this normal?” variety. In the meantime, clear skin and not in any shape to enjoy it! In a word, bum! boo x
