Early retirement what to do

Hi I have had relapse and remitting for 17 years and I work for the NHS. I have noticed my MS has got worse and I really struggle most days to do my job. I am 55 next month and thinking of taking early retirement due to my ill health. Can anyone give me advice on how to go about doing this please. I really don’t know where to start. I would appreciate your help. Thank you

If you have a good line manager, HR or occupational health team, I would start there. If you are not confident of their support, try speaking with a union rep. If this is no good I would think about talking with citizens advice bureau.
Wishing you all the best.
I sorted my ill health early retirement through a very supportive line management and HR team.

Hi, sorry this has happened…bummer!
I took ill health retirement from local council when I was 47…69 now.

Thing is you MUST let your employer finish you to get the best payout…do not offer resignation or reduce hours without them suggesting it first. Speak to HR or your union rep.
