Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give any advice on pip tribunal appeal? I have been refused pip twice. I’m not sure how to proceed on the of the hearing. I’m awaiting more details from dwp. Thank you in advance ![]()
The Benefits and Work guides might help. Full access is about £20.
Hi emmashar.essien. I don’t get P.I.P myself.. don’t think that I’m unwell or immobile enough, but I do know someone who does get it. They went to the C.A.B for help and advice. And they were successful in getting their claim. I know that they have cut the amount of C.A.B offices over the years but there is a few still around even if they have cut their days and opening hours. I’m presuming that you are UK based with that! Good luck and wishing you well with your claim.
As per @whammel, £20 is a worthwhile investment in view of what is at stake.
Of course, on here we don’t know the particulars of your case. What is certain, though, is that the label MS is not enough to ensure an award - it is more about the way you live and the limitations you face.
I got PIP and would regard myself as quite impaired, both at the time of the award and even more so now. My submission was detailed and referenced. Dig out all the letters that have been written to you or about you and refer to documents, dates and specific page / paragraph in answering each question on the PIP application. It is likely the assessor won’t be a MS specialist so you need to feed them the answers made by your experts on your behalf.
Has to be said also, that you may not be far enough advanced to qualify and they are raising the bar. An extra million people on PIP when the welfare bill is crippling the nation etc. Of particular interest to the assessor will be the extent / frequency of relapses - as referenced in your Doctors reports. Too infrequent or short duration, they may consider your life is still normal enough.
Not wishing to insult you or belittle your condition - we all have MS on here. But “out there” you need to prove your disadvantage.
