Do I need a lumbar puncture? MRI spine and brain normal

Symptoms Pins n needles mainly at night right hand arm foot, bottom of leg Tingly nose and twitchy intermittent r eye Normal in depth bloods Normal neuro investigations twice apart from slight increased tone r ankle But he wasn’t concerned Normal mri of brain, spine and neck Neuro thought maybe inflammation of central nervous system, maybe neck inflammation Would I need a lumbar puncture or should I take it everything’s okay from above tests and examinations

What does the neurologist recommend you do? Is he/she suggesting that, as they have ruled out anything obvious, it’s best to call it a day for now and get on with your life, reassured? Or does he want to take the drains up and do more invasive tests like an LP?

Personally, I would not be agitating for an LP unless the neurologist strongly recommended it. I’ve always taken the view that time will tell if there is something going on, and that life’s too short to spend it chasing trouble. But that’s just me. The important thing is, I think, what they are suggesting to you, and how you feel about that.

I think, if it wasn’t impacting my life greatly (ie taking time of work sick) I would leave it a while and see how things develop. If things get worse you could always go back to GP and ask for another referal… or ask neuro now if you can make an appointment for next year so you know by then if you want another MRI and LP.

Yes I think as he wasn’t too concerned when he phoned with the results Of MRI I really don’t want to put myself through it. He did say I could just get a follow up in six months, if needed.
