Diet or anything that helps?

Hello, hope you are all well as well as you can be anyway xx

I was wondering if anyone has found any diet that helps with their symptoms or anything that helps really?

Thanks in advance

Sam

I follow the Swank diet; more or less the guidelines set out here:

it hasn’t done me any harm and i have remained gratefully relapse free since starting it.

coincidence or cause… who knows…?

Thank you for your reply

Hi Sam, I’ve been practising Vedic Meditation for about 18 months now and I have had a reduction of symptoms. I’m less tired and the stiffness in my feet and legs has practically disappeared. It really has changed my life. I don’t follow a strict diet but I don’t hardly eat any processed foods or take aways or anything like that. My diet is fairly balanced.

hope that helps,

Hi Sam,

Have just read your post and was looking at the reply re Swank diet…have to be careful how u type that…not forgetting the ‘s’ at the beginning of that particular name…

Anyway, since start of Jan I have unknowingly been eating in quite a similar way to the ‘Swank’ guidelines…I do have a bit of a bacon breakfast habit BUT I buy free range not tampered with pig so I don’t believe it’s very processed/messed with and also moderating my carb intake. The point being that I feel better than I have done for months…also started Tecfidera a couple of days ago as I had 2 relapses last year along with my diagnosis.

I also take regular walks and swim/use a cross trainer…mostly because my balance can be a bit odd so I can hold on!!! Exercise really helps me get through the day…although tired when I start it strangely energises me.

Take care of yourself,

Ruth xx

Hi Ruth

Thanks for your reply and yes need to be careful with that ‘S’.

Glad you are feeling better. x

Hi Sam,

Im following the OMS program (Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis). It’s similar in some ways to the swank diet but includes other lifestyle changes including relaxation techniques, exercise where appropriate and supplements of vitamin D and flax seed oil.

The diet involves cutting saturated fats from your diet which have been proven to increase inflammation which has an adverse effect on ms.

Ive been following it for about 4 months and feel the benefits. You can find it online.

Best wishes

Annabell

Thank you, glad it’s helping you. I’ll check it out. X
