Depressing MS appointment

I saw my consultant for the first time in 3 years yesterday. I left feeling so unsupported. She’s so closed, ran through a quick check list but offered no chance for me to add more info. I asked questions but got no real answers - it feels like gaslighting. I appreciate that MS is so individual but I’m getting the head tilt sympathy nodding as a response, I’d rather they just said ‘I don’t know’. Is it always like this or do I just have a poor team as the nurses are the same.

Ask for different neuro or ms nurse. You havw to be supported and if they cant answer your questions fully then who else? Is total rubbish tbh, the way we get treated then we end up depressed etc - well how else am i suppose to feel when i have so many unanswered questions right!?

Sounds like my neurologist! :woman_facepalming:t2: I’ve found the ms nurses are much better at answering questions. If mine can’t answer it they ask the Neuro and tend to get a better more comprehensive response.

If you’re not getting the support you need I’d would as already said ask to see somebody else. MS is so complicated and life changing you deserve a decent team around you x

This is exactly why I joined this group, to help me in this area. Although my Consultant is ok, but he’s clearly over loaded when I’ve been passed on to my MS nurse every appointment is being cancelled and move on a month at a time, now they have no MS nurse there because it transpires the reason my appointments kept getting cancelled was the nurse was always calling in sick and has now been let go. I’ve been stuck in limbo with no support for a year now with increasingly worsening symptoms, no medication, no type of support from the NHS in my area and I’m at a point I’m scared for my future and supporting myself.
