Just found out today that my critical illness policy is being paid out and that I should receive bank transfer in around 10 days time. After a bad time of it last year 3 major relapses which the first 2 was mistakenly diagnosed as strokes only the 3rd hospital admission identified demyelination and refered to neurologist who diagnosed ms in February. I am over the moon even though it doesn’t cover the whole mortgage it certainley takes a good 10 years off. It’s just over a year from my first attack and know I have some reassurance that if I have another relapse that I never recover from, I won’t need to worry so much about finances.
That is wonderful news. It is nice when something goes right!

Great news, good to hear they paid out
Good for you! I’m sure you paid premiums - no point in NOT claiming; that’s what it’s there for.
Overall, I can’t complain about my case, as it was settled quickly, and with a minimum of hassle. I don’t think they even bothered writing to my neuro.
The only thing they did that was a bit silly was never telling me they were going to settle! Instead, they just put the whole lot in my current a/c without warning. I was away on holiday in Turkey at the time, so if I’d had my card skimmed or stolen while I was there, somebody could have emptied the lot, and I’d have got home never even realising the money had been paid - and lost. To this day, I haven’t ever had a formal letter confirming they’d approved my claim. If some query about it arose now (not that I’m suggesting it would), I have absolutely nothing in writing.

Thats lovely news, takes the pressure off things. I didn’t know if I would have thought of making a claim after my dx, but I had a bleed in my brain 2 years ago and was paid out because of that.

Agree been paying premiums for 10/11 years never thought I would actually use it… It’s only been 4 weeks never thought it would be so quick and to get a phone call to tell me it had been a successful claim very impressed. Nice to have some good luck for a change.
It’s not something I ever took out, as of course I would never be affected by something like that! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Well done on getting your claim settled.
That’s really good news. I took out critical illness cover because of the history of heart disease in the family and hadn’t even noticed that it covered MS. A year after I was diagnosed I was clearing out my files and just happened to read the policy out of curiosity and realised I could claim (luckily mine didn’t have any time limits on claiming after diagnosis). It’s always nice to find the silver lining in the cloud. A bit of financial security makes a huge difference. I’m really pleased for you. Tracey x
Fantastic news that your insurers paid out. Ours paid out too, I didn’t claim when diagnosed as thought it would be too early . It was only on going to advisor when we wanted to move house they said it was worthwhile contacting the insurers to make a claim. They believed the insurers paid out based on diagnosis, they were right. The insurance company even refunded our payments back to when I was diagnosed. Tracey
Great to hear all these story’s of them paying out, I currently have two claims ongoing and have heard nothing for 7 weeks, Fingers crossed Gray
