COVID Vaccine

Hi everyone

I had lemtrada in January 2015 and January 2016

I finished my five years of blood tests after the last infusion in January 2020

I’ve been reading with interest the information on here regarding DMTs and a vaccine

From what I can see it only says about people who have recently had lemtrada, like in the last 3-6 months

I’m not sure where I stand with it all

Can I safely have the vaccine?

I want it, because these lockdowns are seriously impacting my mental health

I want everyone to have it, because we’re all at risk - ms or not - and the more people that have it, the more likely it is (I hope) that we can finally start to get back to ‘normal’

It’s been a long hard slog, and it’s not over yet

But maybe now I’m starting to see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel

I expect you’ve seen this and the specific advice about DMDs that it links through to.

Like you, I am really keen to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Let’s hope it’s the start of better times for all of us!

Thanks for you message Alison, and thank you for the link - I read it with much interest

Hi, I’m not sure what to do really.

Mat Hancock and now ‘SAGE’ have said that the vaccine only reduces the symptoms of covid-19 it will not stop you catching it.

Also they say you are still be able to pass it on, will still have to social distance and will still have to wear a mask.

But look on the bright side, you are unlikely to feel very ill go to hospital or die.

The vast majority of people who get covid do not go to or need hospital treatment.

It has a 99.7% survival rate.

I was in hospital with Covid just before Christmas and I was blue lighted into resus. I needed oxygen and steroids. I had a COVID vaccine last Saturday. Hopefully the vaccine will give us all a route back to some sort of normality but the offer needs to be taken up by as many people as possible.

Yes I am, I have ms and a number of other conditions and a heart condition to.

I have had covid-19, 10 days I was ill and recovered, 6 weeks after I had 3 days with shortness of breath but otherwise ok and recovered.

I can say this, every relapse I have had has been far worse and much more disabling than covid-19.

Mother 79 got it, not well for 7 days then back to normal.

Sister 62 got it 10 days not well then back to normal.

Brother in law 72 got it not well 8 days then back to normal.

Neice got it 28 10 days not well then back to work and normal.

Husband 54 got it, had migraine, loss of taste and felt ruff for 4 days.

My dad 82 got it and died, he had lots of underlying health conditions.

We picked it up at hospital when my mum and I had to take my dad to A and E for treatment, 5 days later we all developed symptoms.

None of us feel we need to have the jab as we have natural eminity having had the virus and recovered.

Unfortunately the main stream media / BBC seam to what to dramatise and instill fear and panic in to the public which is why so many have woken up to what they are doing and cancelled their TV licence, 100’s of thousands in the last 12 months, the BBC are close to collapse.

All the jab does is lessen the symptoms, it doesn’t stop you catching it, it doesn’t stop you passing it on.

You will still have to social distance from loved ones and wear a mask.

No one at this time can guarantee the safety of the jab its way to early in the experimental stage to say what if any the long term symptoms could be.

Remember swine flu? Not that long ago 2009 they rushed a jab out and I will let you do your own research on that one.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not anti vaccine, I have had all mine.

Hi, are you able to gaurentee that it’s harmless and effective?

I very much doubt that.

Even the drug company doesn’t make that claim.

I have vaccine on thursday. I didn think i was in the vulnerable group. I am 69 with PPMS and virtually housebound. they rang and said they were coming no arugment we are coming lol.

Oxford vaccine. I did think long and hard about it. before actually. BUT i have no life at the moment. I will still have to protect myself for about 3 weeks yes but i dont mind. I would prefer a younger person had mine, as so many younger people going into hospital with the new variant.

But i will have it. My daughter had it on monday as she is front line care, and my SIL had it last week as he is front line care.

a lot of research went into this vaccine it was on the table nearly 10 years ago they were just waiting for the the VIRUS to turn up they knew it would happen, 2002 to 2003 we had SARS for a year and it disappeared, virus do not disappear they can become activate at anytime. so Oxford were already waiting for disease X.

If it cuts back some of the horrible symptoms i am all for that. I have a few friends now with it young people mid 30 to 40 who are really sick. no health issues.

Typical BBC making a complete drama out of a mere 100,000 deaths due to covid 19. After all, that world beating figure is only the population of Bath. No wonder this hugely competent government wants to abolish them.

had lemtrada same years, next month last bloods.

got vaccine on tuesday, unfortunately classed as clinically , extremely vulnerable. not fussed on the title

My husband also had similar health problems and we doubted whether to get the vaccine or not. We read the reviews and realized that now they will start selling holidays at cheap prices. So we went to the doctor to see if my husband could get the vaccine. He said that we are very happy!
