Before I gave up work my wife applied for council tax support (under SMI) and was granted a few years ago (25% off the full bill) but since then ive had my MS diagnosis and a friend has told my wife to reach out to the council as it could increase the discount on the bill. Has anyone else had experience with this?

I get the 25% discount on my council tax, and when I lost my job due to the effects of MS I lost my income. I then applied for help with council tax due to low income, I filled in on line and sent copies of bank statements and was granted help with the bill.it has made such a difference. The process is quite straightforward, it did take a few weeks before I heard the outcome.
You know what they say, nothing ventured nothing gained.
