Just filled in a carer`s questionnaire for hubby…even tho he is my carer…he hates form filling.
It asked stuff like, how much time do you get to enjoy doing what you want to do?
and
how many hours a weeek do you care for your caree? The answer to that one was over 100 hours a week. Think that makes his CA worth about 35p an hour.
Some folk ask why should a spouse be paid for looking after their other half. Answer in our case is simple…because for the last 12 years, my carer could`ve been out earning a half decent wage!
Other questions on similar lines. But it was anonymous, so will anyone spot any problems? No, course not!
I just wish they`d send me a questionniare on how do I think my Direct Payments system is working out?
Because I recently asked for more help and was told I could lose existing funding, if I ask for more. For heavens sake, eh? Their scare tactics worked and I decided not to apply.
I would have thought that by now you would have understood it is ‘heads we win tails you lose’. The Government itself values the input of carers at £100,000 each per year, that is in terms of savings to the NHS etc etc. And we should feel damned grateful for the whacking great big allownaces we get in return and all the services we have access to, designed to help reduce the load on us. And yes, otherwise we could be out earning half decent salaries and could remember what the terms ‘socialising’ or ‘relaxing’ meant and what friends were etc etc etc…
