carbon monoxide treatment?

Hi everyone,

I’ve researced a lot of treatments over the last year or so for MS, but i came across the use of carbon monoxide (CO) to treat MS just recently by accident and trials a handful of years ago cough “looked promising” cough.

Has anyone ever heard of this before?

hiya

never heard of it. had a coal fire for years but didnt stop ms showing itself …

how does it help-in theory…?

I’d refrain from sticking my head in a coal fire and inhaling the fumes, perhaps until further research is conducted anyway, but CO is known to have neurotransmitter/anti-inflammatory properties in small amounts. Research has been conducted on mice (and does anything never work for them?) but I read articles now that are years old and it seems to have dissappeared off radar.

Here’s a quote from Wiki: " carbon monoxide is a normal neurotransmitteras well as one of three gases that naturally modulate inflammatory responses in the body. "

ah-ok. i also have had my co alarm/detector in situ for years…

i will stick with the benefits of meditation and resist sticking my head in the fire-even if it was physically possible

Hopefully you’d never have to thank me for that advice

If you have something that works, that’s great. Hope to join you there too.

All the best

There is something in the scrambled mush that is my ‘brain’ that says the Haemaglobin that transports oxygen in the blood has a greater affinity for carbon monoxide than oxygen, and forms carbo oxyhaemaglobin that doesn’t release the oxygen. That’s why CO poisoning is not a good thing. The biochemistry of this treatment must be interesting.

I am now going for a lie down now,and may be some time,

Oh great idea… let’s all go and turn the car on in the garage and attach the garden hose…

Ummmm NOT

But then again there is actually work being done on this…

Therapeutic potential of carbon monoxide in multiple sclerosis.

“Carbon monoxide (CO) is produced during the catabolism of free haem, catalyzed by haem oxygenase (HO) enzymes, and its physiological roles include vasodilation, neurotransmission, inhibition of platelet aggregation and anti-proliferative effects on smooth muscle. In vivo preclinical studies have shown that exogenously administered quantities of CO may represent an effective treatment for conditions characterized by a dysregulated immune response”

Do NOT try this at home, children…

woblyboy by sounds of it your scrambled mush works better than my platter of Swiss cheese, you know your medicine more than I do. Then again, it would also be right to point out some dude killed himself by eating too many carrots. I think ‘dosage’ is key here, for any potential medicine.

Not to mention having it administered in a correct and controlled manner i.e. not in a garage.

Hello richard88,I agree with your theory that dosage is the factor.Enough of anything will kill a person. A relatively small amount of Lead will do that, especially if introduced intercranially at about 3,000 feet per second. I’m blaming Bugs Bunny for the incident with the carrots. As for brains and the remnants thereof, I used to postulate that boys had marbles which rolled around and girls had sequins which went everywhere

If you’re thinking that’s,Stereo-typical and sexist… Give me a break,I’m presently trying to retrieve a big green one from under the harpsichord

Youve done it again, Belinda............baffled me with scientific stuff! The only thing I know about carbon monoxide is that its a killer! But then I guess you`re talking about regulated doses, eh?

luv Pollx

Thanks, but I could do without CO poisoning - I have enough problems!
