Didn’t bother with the rice paper because I realised I could put a bit of biscuit on the scale, zero it and put the biotin on that. So I’ve started taking 0.3g of biotin a day, in three lots. How long did it take before you started to see improvement, spacejacket? I know it’s a bit of a pathetic question.
l did start taking the over-the-counter biotin for a few weeks until l managed to get the pure powder. And l did notice a difference even with the OTC ones. Nails/hair/skin - looking really good. Hair and nails growing at such a rate - so it makes you wonder what it is doing to the rest of your body.
Recently, l have noticed more energy and stamina - and less foot drop. l am more tired - only because l am now attempting to do all sort of ‘jobs’ l would not have been able to do. As l have said before - the downside is it has turned me into a skivvy.
l can walk along with the vacuum cleaner and steam-mop - whereas before l was using my rollator to hold me steady and sitting on the seat whilst trying to clean the floors.
Have been out more - socially - before- l know l would have made excuses.
So small but important changes in a short time.
l am taking 0.10g x 3 times a day - l see you are doing 0.3 is that once a day. And are you also taking B1 Thiamine - l am - but the ones l have bought are again the OTC ones and they have lots of filler in. Magnesium. l shall see if l can get the pure powder - probably from Bulk Powders or Pure Bulk.
Bulk POwders were out of stock of Biotin - but l should think they will soon have stocked up again. l bet they were not expecting such a run on this. l bet someone is stockpiling.
lnterestingly, This Biotin theory has great results on anyone with Optic Neuritis - How wonderful that is for people suffering with this distressing eye problem.
I’m taking 0.1g three times a day. Just wondered whether it was days or weeks (over a month?) before you saw improvements.
l noticed a difference in a couple of weeks. The trial say that many benefits were after 9 months +
As it is a vitamin - l would expect it to take a while to make a change. l have just read on the facebook page that 1500 mg of Thiamine was used daily with the Biotin. l am going to order the pure thiamine - as the ones l have are full of magnesium as well l do not want too much of that. Most over the counter vits/minerals have calcium/magnesium as fillers. When you add up the amount you are taking daily - it is possibly too much. We need both - but not in such a high dose.
Thiamine is B1 - and it is great for preventing fatigue. Have read lots of published results on this B Vit - so why have we not been told before about it. Why has it been kept a secret. We need it - lts cheap - perhaps that is why- no financial gain for anyone.
l will post this on another thread for people suffering fatigue [is that not all of us].

are the boran capsules ok to take,if so which ones would you reccomend ?
l bought the pure powdered borax - and l use one teaspoon dissolved in a litre of water - and l drink a tablespoon 3 times a day. There is no taste to it. And so cheap. Have spread the word to friends who suffer with arthritis - and have made bottles up for them as well. The kg packet will last years.
How safe is taking borax internally? Particularly long term. I’ve seen so much about it being a poison that I pulled a D: face when you said about ingesting it.
Interesting fact, Victorians in the UK used to put borax in milk that had gone off, as that took the sour taste and smell away. The milk was still off, but the pH was balanced again so it smelled and tasted ok. The result was a big increase in bovine TB and an estimated half a million kids died as a result. Half. a. million. in Victorian days…
Very interesting reading all the information on biotin & I have ordered 500mcg tablets from the natures best website. I was diagnosed with spms my man problem now is foot drop causing mobility & balance problems. How many tablets do I need to take to be in line with the trial. Thank you for any advice given.

Hello again I should have put 500ug not mcg.

Hi all,
Just wanted to step in here as Borax was mentioned.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that borax is an effective treatment for MS, and importantly the potential side effects of this chemical have not been fully investigated. Overexposure to borax is classed as poison and can be extremely harmful.
It’s important to consult a healthcare professional and be fully aware of the risks associated with any treatment. You can read about what to consider when looking at complimentary or alternative medicines on our website:
Many thanks,

Hello,
Also thought it was worth clarifying that Biotin, Boron and Borax are all different things, just in case someone stumbles across this thread and gets confused by the Biotin title.
Biotin is a vitamin found in our bodies called vitamin H or vitamin B7, and it’s important for cell growth.
Borax is also known as Sodium Borate and is used in lots of household products, including detergents and cosmetics.
Boron is a chemical element, Borax is a mixture of the chemical elements Boron and Sodium (so it has Boron in it).
I have been given a chemistry lesson by someone in the research team today!
Thanks,
Steph (Admin)
l am taking it for my osteo-arthritis and candida albicans. And after just a couple of weeks l am now not having to take pain-killers. www. cheflynda.com/...the-inexpensive-arthritis - it works on gout as well.
Morning everyone my biotin 500mcg has arrived & I would like some advice as to how many of these tablets I should take to be in line with the biotin trial. Thank you for any advice given

Sylvia,
The best advice l can give you is to join the facebook group called Biotin for Progressive MS. They now have 600+ members. And you will be able to read the posts from people with MS from all over the world. The files - contains all the relevant information from the trials done my MedDay. And MedDay have been in touch with this group.
Many of us did start taking the over the counter type Biotin. Some have calcium or magnesium as fillers. And with the amount you would need to take you would be overdosing on these eventually. There are some Biotin you can buy that does not have this type of filler. Country Life hi-potency gels - 120 x 10.000mcg. To follow the trial you would need to take up to 30 of the 10.000mcg. But l think to start off with - any amount will help in some way. So just take the recommended dose on your Biotin. Tell me what make it is - and l can look to see what it contains.
Most of us have now got the pure pharma grade powder Biotin. And the amount you take is tiny. So tiny that we have bought micro scales to weigh it on. My 100g of pure Biotin cost me £120 from US. And is enough to last me 333+ days. So nearly a years worth. Thats not bad. Far less then paying for prescriptions.
l have not had adverse reaction to it - and l am one who always has trouble taking prescribed meds - any side-effects l get them all.
As the B vits are water-soluble - you can not overdose as you pee out any you do not absorb. lt seems us with MS - need lots of B vits as you are probably aware. Biotin is B7 and Thiamine B1 - Now Thiamine was also used on the trial. lt gives lots of energy - well l think all the B’s do. lf you google both you will see the research that has been done.
l have said before - that l have not told my family/friends about this Biotin Trial. Thought l would wait and see if anyone notices a difference in me. Well just now - a friend came to the door and l was talking to him and walking about - [had to find him the passport for one of our horses as the vet is coming] and he said ''my you are walking so much better - and without your wheelything - [rollator]. And that’s right - l do leave it behind more and more - and my dragging leg is not dragging all the time.
thats great news that someone has noticed you are walking better, and great news you are using your rollator less and less.
hope the benefits continue as i am sure they will do.

If that makes you shudder, does the fact that the dmd Tecfidera is also used as an antifungal in furniture making.
all drugs are poison in one way or another.
Hi can anyone please help, I am trying to buy biotin powder but I am getting confused when I was looking for it all these different types where coming up, I live in the UK.
Thanks everyone if you can help.
I’ve seen improvement after only a few days on 0.3g daily of Biotin. May be coincidental.
lt is best to get the pure pharma grade powder - from Bulk Powders US or Pure Bulk US. A 100g pack cost £120 -is enough for 333+ days- you need some scales to weigh it correctly. Smart Scales from amazon are good. l use rice paper to weigh mine on - it means l just pop it straight into my mouth afterwards. So make sure it is pure powder Biotin - then there are no fillers. You need 0.10mg X 3 a day.
Bump for Ladymoth.
