Appointment delayed

Hi all Big sigh, just received a letter from hospital to say my neuro appointment which had been booked for 23/07/14 has been cancelled and re-booked for 11/09/14 so that will be 5 months from referral. I’m a bit torn as on one hand I do want the ball to start rolling to find out what’s wrong. On the other hand I’m coping ok, not had to have any time off work although it really is taking everything I’ve got to get through the week. I guess if things deteriorate between then and now I can go back to GP, I suppose if it is MS it’s not going anywhere so I think I’ve just talked myself into accepting the delay :0) Anyone else had this happen and what did you do if anything? Sarah xx

I had a letter today delaying my appointment with a MS specialist consultant as well, from July 3rd to August 20th. Was yours at Southmead Bristol by any chance? Weirdly, I also had a second letter inviting my to a neuro consult with a different team of neuros on July 2nd, I saw her registrar back in April who gave a provisional diagnosis. I’m sure things will get a bit confusing but I’m defitely attending both appointments even if it is a mistake. I like you am coping but would like to start on DMDs as soon as I can really, so the sooner these appointments happen the better!

Hello Sarah

I don’t know how much notice you have to give work but you could ring the hospital and tell them you would be available at short notice, if any cancellations came up. It’s what I did, when I got my first appointment through.

Good luck xx

Hi Sarah,

I totally agree with Blossom that was exactly what I did. I received a letter from my hospital telling me that my neurologist appointment was cancelled.

I contacted the hospital and told them that I was available if there was any free cancellations at short notice. I was given a new appointment 2 weeks later.

So if I was you I would give the hospital a ring and tell them that you would be available at short notice and hopefully you should be seen quicker.

Hope this helps you Sarah.

Robert.

Thanks for the comments, I will definitely call on Monday, getting away from work will be fine and at least then if something comes up it will be a bonus. Larks, I come under Southampton Neuro Unit but will be seeing someone at Portsmouth QA in one of their clinics there. Used to live in Bristol though, long time ago now but I do still pop back from time to time. Thanks again for the help xx
