Has anybody been offered to start on DMDs after undergoing one clinicial attack on here?
I only ask as I understand that some hospitals/ neuros will start you on them and others will not untill you have a second attack some time apart. It looks like the hospital twenty miles down the road from me will, but my local one won’t.
If you have/ were offered them after the first attack, would you consider posting what area you were offered these please?.
Thank you
I had one clinical attack but about 5 lesions classed as older. It was classed technically as cis but as there were other lesions ms diagnosis given. I started dmds straight away but didnt get on with the first one and am now on copaxone. X
Hi Anon!
I was diagnosed in June 2013 following stroke like symptoms that left me partially paralysed on my left side. When I saw my Consultant Neurologist, I was recommended Alemtuzumab (aka. Lemtrada) straight away.
Unfortunately, my MRI scan looked pretty grim and his very words to me were, " We need to hit this hard".
I went into hospital in Sept 2013.
My local hospital is based in Plymouth, Devon.

Hi I was diagnosed with a cis 2012 and started on Dmds straight away I’ve had two relapses since but not as bad as the first one so glad I have a good neurologist and got onto treatment Good luck in whatever you decide but think the sooner you get them the better according to what I’ve researched I’m in Dumfries and Galloway Emma x
Yes, I am.
The hospital you are at should have no bearing. You either meet the critera or you dont. Look up the April 2013 NICE doc on DMT’S for MS.
I will add that even if you meet the criteria for DMD’s following a CIS the neuro does not have to agree to them. Being an informed (and determined) patient is key.
I was put on DMD’s a year and two MRI’s showing lesions after my first attack which went on the whole time until the dx in December 2013. They lessened over time from over 90 a day to about 3 a week but since being on the DMD’s since the end of January they have increased and worsened. I have another neurologist now due to other circumstances and I am due to see him in June. I am in Lincolnshire.
