I have tried standard FES but the impulse required to lift the foot need to be very high and it really hurt. Physio said my nerve was imbedded quite deep. I therefore didnt persue it as I couldnt bear the pain of it.
Anyway I have seen that you can have an imbedded one and you hardly feel it. It is also more reliable as it is place on the nerve directly. It can be done in Blackheath Hospital but the only snag is that it will cost you £20,0000.
I would love to have it but would be gutted if I paid that and it didnt work !
As an alternative to the FES, inquire about a SAFO, which is a simple brace which has wonders for my foot drop. I’ve my SAFO for 6 years now and I’d be lost without it. Derek.
