A Warning (if you shop at Aldi)
Ignore it as it costs them more to take you to court than they could get and according to various websites they often loose in court because of the exhoritant charges the sensible judges chuck the case out, we have had them and ignored them nothing came of it they are cowboys
Don
This advice is two years out of date, Dom.
The company in question will take a case to court, relying on a High Court judgement (in their favour) that their charges are not unreasonable

The more I get into this, the murkier it gets:
They do not have a standard charge.
They do not have a standard time period.
You need to check every car-park from now on.
Somerfield have thrown this firm out, and Aldi are getting a lot of complaints but will not act

hi dr geoff

i’d be inclined to go through the formal channels, not pay any money, and if necessary make a right song and dance about this. i’d also go though the above excellent suggestions and make notes of what reasons (logistical, ethical, comparative to non-ms customers) have been given.

bottom line- stick it back to the bullying b*stards, as i told the junior docs on the picketline… all the best, and i will now sign your petition, cheers fluffyollie

I got a penalty charge when I went for my yearly waste of time with my MS Nurse yesterday. I sent an email to ask for it to be reconsidered, charge is £80.00 reduced to £25.00 if I pay within fourteen days.

Hi, Pam here. I absolutely refuse to go near the place. Last time I went there I had just got out of bed from having to rest for two weeks. My right arm still did not work at all. At the till, I was told to more or less hurry up or get out.

xxxxxxxxx— to them. I spent a whole day crying and will not entertain anything they provide even if it came in gold leaf with knobs on1

I got one of these in a Lidl car park - only five minutes over the two hours but it was a fair cop - I was having lunch in the pub. It is worth everyone knowing that these car parks are monitored by CCTV cameras - so you will know nothing until the charge arrives in the post.

I suspect your appeal to the managing contractor (I doubt the store has any control over what happens) will be successful. I hope so.

Could this be an end to the story?

I appealed - extenuating circumstances - citing the time taken from checkout to leaving carpark - and was asked for more “evidence”. So, a scan of two blue badges (my wife has her own) and a scan of the till receipt (dead lucky this, I normally shred anything with a debit card number on), and just a hint that the till receipt actually showed the timing.

And waited.

And waited

And today a letter came from [the firm that Dewi hinted at in post #16]. A nice piece of weasel wording.
“The charge has been cancelled and there is no outstanding payment due on this account”.
No mention of any appeal.
No apology.
No nice words to give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

You could almost believe it never happened.

So, it is not a case of “watch this space”, but rather one of watch that (parking) space - and look at your watch as well.
