Hi
I haven’t been dx yet but I am in the process of tests and have been told it is most likely ms. I have been doing some reading up about the swank diet, is anybody on the diet? Is it helpful at all? Is it worth following?
Thanks
Saz

Hi Saz,
Read ‘Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis’ by Prof. George Jelinek, you won’t regret it.

Here’s the nutrition advice from the evidence-based part of the planet - I expect you’ve found it already - from the main part of this MS Society site. The main MSS site is an excellent source of reliable and straightforward information about MS generally.
There is a section about special diets, explaining that some people find them helpful, but that there isn’t much in the way of hard evidence of a general effect. So the mainstream advice on nutrition is a good, healthy, balanced diet, and I think that is what most of us try to do.
Very restrictive diets have their supporters, but I think there is a risk of falling into the trap of thinking that the more restrictive and elaborate and time-consuming the diet, the better it must surely be for MS. I don’t think it generally works that way, alas.

Not for MS but does stop you from getting fat.
Leaking gut is a marketing scam
Thanks for the advice, I will read up or your recommendations. I follow scottish slimmers so I have quite a healthy diet with fresh fruit, veg, lean meats and grains and nuts which has helped me lose just short of a stone since november. I am not a fan of restricted diets but I thought it is worth a look if it helps with some of my symptoms, but it will be a very informed decision if I choose to try it out
Thanks again
Saz
Have just read the downloadable pocket guide and it sounds very difficult to stick to. In my opinion balanced is best with a little of what you fancy being good!
I also take some vitamin supplements especially Vit D to try to avoid further relapses. Working so far, fingers crossed.
Good luck whatever you decide.
