support non existant

I can’t believe there are no support groups in my area. I feel so alone even though I have a wonderful family, I just want ti be able to talk to people who understand. My life is non existant, all I do is sit in the house, I haven’t been out in 6 months + as its near impossible. Does anybody know of a support group that I have maybe missed ? I’m im holywell, north wales Krissy

IHelllo Krissy. It seems unbelievable that there are no support groups near you. I guess you have clicked on the near me button, eh?

It is also a shame you havent been out for so long. We all need more than staring at the same 4 walls. I know I do.

Here`s an idea;

I get out once a week with 2 carers, paid for out of my Direct Payment system.

Do you think this could help you too?

What you need to do is ask for an assessment from the social services.

i`am sure you would be successful in getting help, as you are isolated.

Give it a go, yeh?

luv Pollx

Thanks for your reply Poll, The nearest support group was across the water some 50 miles away lol. Thats great that you get out hun I would love this kind of help but our dear lovely government have been rather awful in handling my benefits and all I get is low rate care dla ! And apparently I need to be on higher to get this kind of help. Its great considering I cant even take care of my bodily functions myself. I took them to tribunal where a really horrible doctor wanted to concentrate on one of the misdiagnosis I had alone the way and wouldn’t look at anything else, it was horrible and she kept stopping me from talking and was just a horrible bully so I really dont have any fight left. I still cant come to terms with it all and tell myself if I just loose weight or change this or that i’ll magically go back to a normal life because I really dont know how to accept this rubbish as my life Krissy

Oh hun. I`m sorry my suggestions were of no help. But surely, that tribunal was very badly handled. Sounds to me like you need someone in authority, or with the right knowledge, to fight for you.

When anyone here talks about loss of benefits or failed claims, they are advised to join Works and Benefits. This is nowt to do with the govt, but a private body of solicitors who know how to go about things. The cost is £20 to join and folk say it is well worth the money, as the right results come through.

When I had claims refused, I got someone from Age Concern (and no, you dont need to be an OAP to get their help) to fill in an appeal and I won.

When I applied for ESA, againI got someone from a Disability Charity to do it for me and I won.

You are on the wrong level of DLA and it is all a load of rubbish for you.

Oh forgot to add I have had an assessment from an OT ans she said she would get a better wheelchair for me, one for my measurements and all this other stuff she wanted to do to the house but my landlord wont let her, lovely

Hmmm, you seem to be hit from all sides…I am grrrring for you!

pollxx

Thanks again Poll I shall look into them. I think all I need is to gain some kund of control over my life and i’ll feel a lot better Thank you so much for your time, your very kind Krissy xx

Good grrrrr-ing lol thank you

Hi Krissy

I am fuming for you too. I can’t believe you have been left to struggle on just staring at four walls. Very bad!!

Like Poll says look into Work and Benefits. I haven’t used them but you hear their name being mentioned all of the time on here.

I really hope that you get help soon and remember we are all here for you whenever you fancy a chat.

Take care and let us know how it goes.

Shazzie xx

Have just checked out that website and it looks very helpful big thanks xx

Thank you so much shazzie, it really helps that theres people who understand. I really hoped to find a support group or something so I could try to make friends as I dont have any these days. God listen to me going on, need to stop the self pity Krissy xx

Krissy you may have a legal case against your landlord. The Equality Act 2010 requires a landlord to make reasonable adjustments to the property if you need adaptations or extra help:

Comment has been queued again :frowning: but does include a link. I have posted the text of the message again below with the link changed

That’s the ticket Krissy. We’ll have to think of some jokes to throw round to make you chuckle eh?

Krissy,

You did the right thing by coming on here for advice - Poll - as usual has been so helpful - l am sure between us all an answer can be found. Benefitsandwork.org are good - and so are AgeUK - l can understand how your life has become - you have a progressive illness - and its a struggle as we all know. But nobody should be left ‘at home’ - And if your landlord will not help with alterations then perhaps your local council can find you more suitable accomadation - speak to your local councillor - get your GP and OT to pull strings. lf there is no MS Centre nearby [l am in the same position - and no MS Nurse] then do try other charitable groups in your area. As some do have special transport for the disabled - and could arrange trips out. Red Cross/ Salvation Army/ Lions/Round Table are just a few who might help.

Firstly, lts your benefits. Time to get the professionals in - get them to sort it out. And if you are requested to go anywhere for a interview - tell them you are house-bound and cannot get out. lf you manage to get there - then automatically they think you are reasonably mobile. Always tell it as if it is your worse day. l think others will agree this is the best way to conduct any appeal/application for benefits. l get high mobility rate but low care - and like you should be getting a higher rate - but this is my fault as l have not done anything about it. But l will now. l get out everyday on my scooter - and l can still drive my car but do need to take my rollator to use to get from the car.

Keep in touch - and lets hope 2014 will be a better year for us all.

Frances
