Side effects of Tysabri

I have opted for tysabri infusions for my MS and so far it seems to be going ok. I had some physical side effects after the first one, but I was told the second dose is normally where the side effects come out. I have found that physically, I am doing ok this time, but mentally, I feel like I have been depressed and really teary and generally just feeling sorry for myself! Has anyone else felt like this after tysabri? And I would appreciate if anyone can let me know what other side effects they have had after this. Thank you!

Hey! Welcome to the Tysabri club haha. Was on the infusions for a year and a half and just switched to injections recently. From my experience, I was finding that my emotions were fluctuating near the infusions but generally they improved the longer I was on the drug and the more I knew it was coming. I hope that’s a bit of help but anyway, good luck with your Tysabri journey!

I tend to feel a little tired the afternoon after the infusion, but no other side-effects in the 10+ years I have been on Tysabri.

What I would add is that starting a pretty serious med like Tysabri does stir up some strong feelings about having MS in the first place and having the kind of MS that warrants such a strong drug. In my own case, I was just delighted to be on it, having failed on Avonex and run into a whole lot of MS trouble, but strong emotions come in many varieties and they’re all extra emotional load that we have to deal with, and that always takes some doing.
