I am currently in a relapse and have been on a 5 day course of steroids but less than a day after finishing them I started to get pains in my legs. Is this normal as I suffered really bad with the pain yesterday after I had my Avonex injection. I called the Doctors today and they want to put me on another 5 day course and I’m worried it’s going to be even worse.
Hi Shane, I also have RRMS and a recent relapse where I was also given steroids for a 5 day period. I was given Methylpredisolone. I experienced quite a lot of odd symptoms and leg pain was one of them but it did ease after a while. I was on a dose of 1000mg per day. I didn’t think that medical professionals usually give out more than 2 courses of steroids within a 12 month period as they are so strong. If you are anxious about taking more steroids be sure to ask all the questions that you would like answered so that you can make an informed decision about whether to have more. Hope this helps in some way. Good luck and hope you are on the mend soon. Tracey
Thank you Tracey. I just can’t remember it being this painful the last two times I had them. I’m taking Paracetamol & Tramadol Hydrochloride for pain relief and they only just take the pain away so I can walk to the toilet.
Is the pain down near your heels and ankles? If so I had that exact symptom after the last 2 doses of IV steroids i had. Was horrible. Lasted a few days then resolved itself. Hope that helps.
No it’s from my hip to my ankles and anywhere inbetween. Mainly my joints.
