Reasonable adjustment refused

Hi, I’ve been signed off work since before Christmas due to debilitating fatigue. I have a diagnosis of RRMS. Work combined with ongoing family health issues are impacting my own management of symptoms. I requested, as a reasonable adjustment, a reduction in my working days from 5 to 4 as a way to manage my fatigue and to support me being able to continue working consistently rather than being off work. This request was almost immediately refused. I work in a school and my duties have been successfully covered by colleagues throughout my absence. The MS nursing team supported the reduced hours following a long review meeting with me recently and their letter has been forwarded to HR. I’ve requested an Occ. Health assessment and also passed on all communication to my union rep.

Has anyone has issues like this or can anyone offer advice on how I move forward?

Many thanks in advance M

Sounds like you’re well on the case :+1:

Unionised, OH & HR to refer to. Is it a state school? They can’t reasonably refuse.

Hi thanks for your reply. Sorry for delayed response, I’m managing a bereavement at the moment. This is a mainstream secondary school and I haven’t heard from them to discuss my phased return so will be having to address that after the half term break as my fit note will have run out by then.
