Hi everyone,
I am trying to raise awareness of MS and the daily struggles of those living with the condition. There are a couple of people in my workplace who have the condition.
They of course require additional support and are afforded suitable accommodations to ensure they can function as effectively and comfortably as possible.
I fear that there may be a lack of empathy towards their condition from others creeping in and I thought with MS awareness week coming up, what better time to address misconceptions and address ignorance regarding the perception of others in relation to MS?
Is there any training material or courses anyone can make me aware of that would support in this?
Would anyone be kind enough to share their own experiences of MS in the workplace and how they feel the condition is perceived by colleagues?
Thank you in advance for any support you may be able to offer
Thank you for responding. Do you mind me asking a few questions? I’m concerned at the way a couple of my colleagues are being perceived by their peers and wonder if this is something many people living and working with the condition experience. There appears to be an element of cynicism around their condition and if this is a common experience then it must be an awful situation to find oneself in. If you wouldn’t mind me pecking your head a little then let me know. I’m hoping to bring awareness to my workplace and a little more understanding.
Thanks in advance
Hi Tony, I was probably the worst judge tbh, it took me a while to get my head around the variance of symptoms and strived to look “normal “ so avoided situations when I wasn’t. It’s only now that I am retired that I can reflect on this sadly.
