On Gilenya for 3 Months

Hi everyone

I’ve been on Gilenya for 3 months now and I thought I’d post a short update for anyone new to Gilenya or just about to start. To be honest the most pleasantly surprising thing is there’s very little to report!

At first I thought my wonky left leg was a bit stronger but I think now that was maybe just the placebo effect. My leg is now back to being as wonky as ever and the stiffness and numbness in my hands and feet is worse. My MS nurse doesn’t think this is a relapse and blames me for trying to do too much. She’s probably right. I haven’t had any side effects or infections. I might as well be taking a vitamin pill for all the difference I’ve noticed. Time will tell whether it does what it’s supposed to in terms of relapses (I’ve had 3 in the last year, none since starting Gilenya). I do still worry about PML and cancer but the potential benefits seem to outweigh the risks.

I’ll post another update after 6 months. Hopefully there will be nothing to report then either!

Glad it’s all going so well for you JZ, long may it continue. Best wishes Laura

1st month on Gillenya (fingolimod) today. And I honestly cant believe how much better I feel. After Avonex & Rebif its like a cloud ha been lifted off my head.

All it needs to do now is be more effective than the interferons and I will be delighted with it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say - it beats the pants off the Rebif injections and the pain and flu side effects that came with them.
