Yes, I am using Ocrevus… no horrific side effects, just a long, long day in hospital for each infusion and blood tests and wee tests seemingly ad infinitum before that. I had no bad reaction to it, and if you do get anything, you’ll be surrounded by medical staff who can sort you out quick-sharp. The worst thing - I was most dischuffed that I couldn’t even have a nap once the drip was running, cos every time I tried, it would be time for blood pressure or other checks to be done. A good book is recommended… you’re on ‘Hospital Time’ which runs a bit differently than Normal Time!
Thank you for this. Yes hospital time is a strange time!
I am recently diagnosed and considering my first DMT. I qualify for so many including the Ocrevus and I think I am going to go with it. Do you have any advice? Not every been a big fan of needles and a massive whimp for all things hospital, but after numerous blood tests and the lumbar puncture decided I am going to have to get over all that to move forward. I guess I would like more information about what it is like from a person rather than information sheets, if you wouldn’t mind sharing?
I’m not a fan of needles either… but as long as someone else is doing the injecting and I don’t have to look, I can put up with it…! I have rubbish veins, too, which don’t make themselves known very easily… but medical staff can usually find one somewhere. Last time it had to be the back of my hand, as that was the only one which showed itself! My tip (which applies only to myself, don’t know if it’s suitable for you) would be to wear something with an elasticated waistband (how trendy and fetching!) so you don’t have to wrestle with zips and buttons one-handed…but you may be completely different! (don’t wear skirts, jeans for me!). It’s a good drug, though…and my Other Half reckons it’s doing a good job. Good luck!
I was dx in 2012, I’ve been on Avonex, Tecfedira and Ocrevus. I’m due my 3rd infusion in September.
For me Ocrevus is the best DMT. Six monthly infusions are better than Avonex weekly infusions, which always gave me flu symptoms the day after. With Tecfedira there were many more side effects especially the hot flushes and itching that so was unbearable.
With Ocrevus I dont notice any side effects. I prefer the length of time between treatments, I dont have an issue with the infusions in fact I enjoy meeting other MSers.
Good luck with whatever you choose
Adam
Thank you for the replies. That’s helped me think my decision is the right one for now at least.
