hi can anyone advise me ive had a lumber puncture and neurologist says she cant interpret result does this happen normally, secretary has passed it on to different doctor
When I first had an LP, MRI and VEP, the doctors decided there wasn’t enough evidence to definitively diagnose MS so they told me it wasn’t MS. That was 19 years ago. At that time, they believed that it was better to give a negative result rather than admit they weren’t sure. They did this partly because there just weren’t the DMD options we have today.
I then had several relapses which I just lived through until a real humdinger 5 years later at which time MS was diagnosed.
Today life is slightly different, they want to be sure before diagnosing anything but perhaps your results are a bit iffy. Maybe you have MS and maybe you don’t. It’s better to have your results passed to another doctor rather than leave you hanging in limbo or give you an incorrect diagnosis.

ok thanks i just couldnt understand why a neurologist orders a test then is unable to interpret results and secretary doesnt know what she meant by that either but she went on leave and secretary passed it to another doctor as she felt i had waited long enough and needed answers, mri showed at least 15 lesions and at least 3 in periventricles is what the report said so got sent for lumber puncture wich took months because she couldnt fill the refferal form properly had to be sent back to her twice!! now she cant interpret results god give me strength
