Modafinil any experience?

Neuro has just prescribed Modafinil to help muscle / strength ( not sleepiness) fatigue. Has this drug helped anyone with similar fatigue problems ? John H (Also posted on Eveyday Living)

Hi John, I was prescribed modafinal for fatigue, unfortunately they stopped me sleeping. They also made extremely hyper, I didn’t feel in control. Obviously I didn’t feel able to continue with them…I do hope you have better luck than me. Nina

Hi John. I had them, they made me feel really buzzy, like I was on large red ball. Then I found out that students buy them for £2 each, because they help them concentrate and pass exams, google it. Lol

Generations of students have depended on nothing more potent than gallons of black coffee to enable them to burn the midnight oil when studying. But now a far more sinister stimulant is sweeping campuses. With unemployment among graduates at record levels, more and more students are turning to ‘cognitive enhancing drugs’ in the hope of boosting their grades and therefore their job prospects. The most popular of these drugs is Modafinil, a prescription-only stimulant used by doctors to treat patients suffering from the sleeping disorder narcolepsy.

That’s very interesting Graham. I have avoided the drugs for fatigue because I know they are a form of speed. Also the fatigue is there because our bodies are unwell and I think to take a form of speed to get through the fatigue must be very bad for the body. I think it’s much better to rest as much as poss. Saying that, I do drink proper coffee in the morning… another form of speed really… so there you go! Pat xx

I’ve done my best to avoid drugs all my life , but I’m sixty now and only care about comfort and quality of life. I’ve recently decided that if I can get any medication that relieves symptoms without uncomfortable side effects, I’ll have it ! At sixty, long term harmful effects don’t matter !

Couldn’t agree more John! AND I know that people worry about becoming addicts… but remember, drug addiction is all about the abuse of drugs… the term is NOT used for people with medical conditions who NEED to take a drug daily. Pat xx
