So I was given a diagnosis on the 14th of April of MS by my neurologist. I said that we were going on holiday on the Thursday the 17th so she would pass that on to the MS nurses.
16th of April the MS nurses contacted me to arrange an appointment asked if I was given any information on what was going to happen. I explained I was told MS nurses would be in contact with me after my holiday.
Nurse explained that they have timescales to meet and arranged an appointment for me to go and see them when I am back from holiday.
I cannot fault the care I have received so far and I am grateful for what has been done.
Still on holiday processing the diagnosis with my wife and thinking how to explain it to my son when I am back as well. We will take each day as it comes.

Hi Stewart. I’m guessing that if it hasn’t happened already then amongst other things that appointment with your MS Nurse will cover Disease Modifying Treatments and you will be given some info to look over before deciding which one to take. The MS nurse will become your main point of contact and you will have 6 monthly ( maybe annual) meetings with her - plus e-mail.
Not something to do on holiday but when you are back, make a list of all the questions you might want to ask at the appointment with the Nurse. Those sessions, particularly the first ones go by in a bit of a blur and it’s easy to forget questions and answers. It’s sometimes useful to take someone with you .
Enjoy the rest of your holiday ( and look forward to future ones!)
David
