FND Diagnosis….

Hi All

I appreciate this is not a FND forum but wanted to post some questions I have the following symptoms

Tinnitus
Balance/Dizzy
Pins and needles and cold feeling in different parts of body
Ache in end of fingers
Pressure headaches (Seem to have slightly subsided last month)
Pain in hand joints
Water feeling in legs
Pin point pain in chest
Tingling in right hand
Pain in forearms
Issues swallowing every now and then (more often recently)

I have seen a cardiologist initially who rules out the heart followed by ENT who advised to pursue with a neurologist.

The first neurologist I saw said in the first 20 seconds if your symptoms are not there all the time we will most likely never get to the bottom of it, after some debate he ordered a spine MRI which he said would be fine then he would not require a follow up.

The spine did come back clear, I have had 2 brain MRIs with a new neurologist who advised there are some white matter changes but non specific.

He has assured me this is not MS and has diagnosed PPPD which is under the FND umbrella.

I just wondered if anyone had a diagnoses of FND that later turned out to be MS the ENT consultatant said I should keep pursuing it as in her opinion the brain MRI is significant.

Has anyone else had similar experience I am happy to accept FND as a diagnosis but just wondered if I should pushing for nerve studies etc I just feel that the neurologists have been so dismissive.

Thanks

Hi there , not sure if this will be of any help but of your various symptoms I’ve only had tingling in my right arm. This was way way back when first diagnosed with MS after optic neuritis and an MRI which revealed ‘quite a few’ lesions in my brain. My current symptoms are problems walking / moving my right leg, weakness in my legs and bladder urgency.

I’m not sure what you mean by ‘nerve’ studies? I think most MS diagnoses result from MRIs , lumbar punctures and history of symptoms.
