Hello from me aswell.

On the confusing name bit I am Pip…not to be confused with the dreaded PIP which is the new benefit that is about to start !!!

Welcome to the good ship HMS MS.

You will have some times when the going is rough but the calm flat waters do come back, and the cyber army of support is behind you all the way.

I was dx this year aswell and trust me its far better asking the questions on here as most of the professionals only have text book responses whereas someone on here will know exactly what you mean.

Remember you are still the same person as last week and you have had 14yrs dealing with it so far and your world hasnt crashed and you will cope. As the general part of aging we have to make adjustments, you may or may not have to do this sooner than you hoped but having the dx does open many more doors to help should they be needed.

My sister is a teacher and its only when she told the head about my dx that he said…well I will let you into a secret…you know how you all joke I’m a slow coach,I have had ms for 15yrs…no one at the school knows, and he is head of a school.

Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to adjust

Pip

Seem to have got a little sidetracked here! lol!

Just wanted to say that the main meds for nerve pain are - amitryptaline, Gabapentin and pregabalin.

You really need to discuss this with your nurse to get some help with meds.

Do you have a number for ms nurse? Or go back to GP so he can sort out some pain relief.

I had nerve pain in my arm for ages and took amitryptaline and it helped. It’s gone at the moment but may come back. Some people are on the meds long term.

Don’t wait 6-8 weeks to get help. No need to suffer with this.
