Evening everyone. . I’ve been on copaxone since September 2024 with no problems. Yesterday I did my first injection of the week and within seconds I became very flushed and hot, had a strange sensation in my throat and bad shooting pain in my lower back. This all passed within around 20 minutes or so. I’ve spoken with my ms team today and they’re happy that it was an immediate post injection reaction and to carry on as normal with tomorrows dose. I had a very similar reaction when I was having chemotherapy a couple of years ago and the oncologist changed my treatment. I’m very anxious about tomorrow’s jab, especially when I experienced similar with chemo but the oncology team didn’t take any chances and changed my treatment. Has anyone had this post injection reaction to copaxone and what were you advised to do?
Hiya sorry for replying to your post week’s after, I’ve just recently joined and was scrolling to see what people was posting. I was on copaxone injections 2 years ago I didn’t experience to much of what you just written but I did start to get lower back pain going into my tail bone / thighs. I had to stop taking the injections after 7/8 weeks it targeted my sciatica nerve and I’ve now been left with permanent pain lower back and tail bone my sciatica pain never recovered the copaxone injections was to harsh on my body. I’ve always been terrified of any form of Treatments because we don’t know what we put into our body and how we all react differently. Am sorry to hear you’ve been through so much . Are you still on copaxone injections or you considering a different treatment?
Hi Clarebear76
I’m on Copaxone and had this reaction once. It wasn’t pleasant but thankfully I’ve not experienced it since and hopefully you won’t.
It’s a known side effect and my Copaxone nurse had warned me about it.
It hasn’t put me off taking it and the worst side effect for me is Lipoatrophy even though I rotate injection sites.
I would prefer to be on a higher efficacy DMT tbh.
