Copaxone or rebif ? Thoughts / experiences please

Am doing ok as far as the Rebif is concerned. Physically and mentally…well that’s a whole different story. HR and manager came out yesterday and I’m mortified to say that I pretty much sobbed for the whole visit. Nothing changes, nothing gets any better.

Oh, that sounds rough. It will get better. Here’s a big Welsh (hug) to keep you going.

Thanks, Adrian. Thing’s will come good. For those who wanted updates… Just completed fourth injection. This time in left fatty, squishy bum cheek. All fine. Teeny, tiny, barely noticeable sting and still no other symptoms. So all good. Xx

I am sooo plesed that after the process of trying to decide which one and then taking the leap of faith you have got on so well with your injections.

On the work front I really do feel for you. I can’t advise as I didn’t try fighting mine as I knew I wouldn’t win and went down the ill health retirement route.

I do know though that there are quite a few posters that will be able to give you some pointers.

Isn’t it wrong that just as our lives have a huge speed bump infront of it,you are having to get used to a host of new drugs and physical changes that work then start being ~~~~~ with you.

At least you found here to let it all out on.

Take care

Pip

Hi all, A further up date for those asking and interested. I did the 6th injection last night. Still no problems apart from red splodges at site but barely noticeable. It was the last injection on 8.8 and tomorrow night, I make the leap of faith to 22 !! I don’t know if I’ll see an onset of flu like symptoms when the dosage increases but so far, nothing, except a slight, very occasional headache but that could equally be stress with worrying about what’s going to happen with work. So far, I would still be happy to say that Rebif was definitely the right choice for me. Xx

Glad to hear its going well. Do be ready with those paracetamol just in case  Karen x

Hi Karen I am well and truly stocked up, just in case !! I don’t know if I’ve been incredibly lucky so far or whether it’s just that the titration dose is low…here’s hoping its the former !! Xx

Glad it’s going well for you xx Rebif is one of the 3 I have short listed. They all seem to be contraindicated (is that even the right word!!!) with thyroid disease, so I will have to discuss this with the Nurse. Sam xx

Hi Sam The nurse took bloods from me first to check if there were any conditions which Rebif would effect. Xx

Hurrah!!! Great to hear it’s going well. I see my ms nurse on the 15th March to get the ball rolling with Rebif… don’t know how long it will actually take to get started with the jabs. I’m going to ask for titration as I’m not sure whether that’s standard or whether I will have to start on 22mg. Keep us posted on how it’s going.

I might be entirely wrong, but I think everyone does the 12 titration injections first, then you have bloods checked again to make sure everything is ok. Good luck…but seriously…so far I’m pleasantly surprised at how straightforward everything is. Xx

Ok, so have made the leap to 22 and so far everything still seems fine. A mild headache after the first one but nothing to write home about and a couple of paracetamol sorted it out. I have some lovely red splodges where the injection site is but they’re pretty in their own little way !! And fade in about a week. And as I’m sticking to my bum and tummy which, trust me on this one, give PLENTY of room to move them around, nobody see’s these area’s anyway. All well and still pleased with my decision. Xx

For those asking for updates… I made the leap to 44 last night. Injected at 6pm and by 8pm I had a pounding headache (I did promise to be honest), that lasted all night but eased gradually with paracetamol. It’s still a bit there this morning but nothing troubling and certainly no other symptoms at all. So far so good Xx

Try taking two paracetamol with the injection to try and prevent the headache? I’ve found that pills stop side effects, but only from progressing from when I took them, ie, if I feel rubbish, paracetamol doesn’t make me feel less rubbish, just stops me getting more rubbish. Could just be me though! Kx

Thanks, Karen. I will do. I just wanted to get an undisguised idea of any side effects last night, as it was the first full dose. Xx

Very sensible  Kx
