I’m not sure of confusion being part of ms or nt, you’ll get other good replies from others who know better than me. As to having trouble keeping up with what day of the week it is, are you sure that isn’t more to do with the fact that it’s just holiday time and different things happening on different days and you’ll be ok with the days when the holidays are over and everything is back to normal. I mean I’m struggling to remember what day it is at the moment but I’m not putting this down to ms or confusion, just being out of my usual routine. Cheryl:-)

ive bin confused with wat day it is for along time on n off, but it seems to be more n more now. dad dont seem 2 understand wen i think ive done stuff wen i havent, that he says i shud know wen im doin stuff, i get confused coz im convinced ive done somethin wen i havent, i have to put notes everywhere tellin me to do stuff n i mark it off, but even then im lookin at things n i havent done it, its stuffin me up

Hi,

It could be down to meds if you are taking any? I suffered with confusion and memory loss whilst taking Gabapentin and now after increasing Pregabalin, I’m confused and forgetful again . My GP said it was definitely not down to my MS, as I didn’t have any lesions in the area of my brain that affects memory, but obviously can be if you have.

I have to write everything down and set reminders on my phone…I have set timers in the past and when they have gone off, I’ve not had a clue what I had set them for!

Confusion and memory problems can be a part of MS - but as someone mentioned, it would depend on where your lesions are. Have you got a bladder infection? That can also cause confusion - may be worth asking the nurse to dip stick?

i havent even got a ms nurse yet, the neuro dr is sortin me out with one but he says its gona take time to sort out as he has to figure out id i come under the wolverhampton area where i live or walsall where i dont live, that dont take much to work out, im on gabapentin, naproxen, citalopram which are bein changed for venlafaxine, tramadol n buscopan n now sum type of vitamin d tablets, ive never bin told where the lesions are on my brain just that there are alot of them, i had a water sample tested just before xmas n that came back clear, i need one place i can go to get the help im needing instead of bein told its gona take time, we cant do it or im not sure if i can help, im still waitin 4 the neuro to send me the appointment for iv steroids, hes said its gona take some time to arrange that as its not the sort of thing that can be organised that quick, as its bin near enuf 6 weeks now since my legs went wonky on me n its gettin worse as it goes, i need to use 2 crutches but i cant coordinate my legs to work with both of them, so im hobblin around with 1 stick, i just wanna give up, ive literaly had it

I find if I’m tired or have had to use my brain too much then I get confused and have terrible concentration problems. My m.s symptoms are worsened by over stimulation be it visually or any of my senses. This causes my brain to ‘pack in’!. Speak to your m.s nurse about it. I’ve been referred to a clinical psychologist for concentration/memory problems.

i get terrible confusion with my ms at times,if i am in a relapse i get it more,i have times when i cant work out how to brush my teeth, and also if i am doing something like having a shower i get confused and then upset, because i am confused, mines like dementia.it does come and go,thats why i worked out it must be the ms,causing it ,because of it coming and going, its really scary though, its the worst symptom i have.

vicki, the cognitive effects of ms are really scary like you say.

i told my neuro that i thought i had dementia because i keep getting lost in my car. (i’d got lost on the way to my appointment)

he reassured me and calmed me down and i found my way home!

try to put all these worries to the back of your mind until you get your appointment. tell yourself that they will be dealt with once you have an expert to ask.

the ms society and ms trust do a series of information cards, including COGNITIVE , send off for them (free of charge) and give them to your parents so that they can get some insight into what you’re going through.

take care vicki, it will pass and you’ll come out at the other side
