I use these techniques but ofter wonder what would happen if I said

“Thank you for your call, I am just doing a survey on people who ‘cold-call’ could you please spare a few minutes to answer my questions? It should only take about 10 minutes!”

I rather suspect by this time they will have put the phone down on you!!! If they don’t try asking the usual questions, sex, marrital status, age etc. then proceed to be more and more naughty until they finally give in. Could it be that your name will very quickly get taken off of these ‘data-bases’?

Hi, I am really fed up of cold callers. we did register with the TPS some years ago.

As the calls are daily, I thought my registration may have needed updating. So I clicked on the link to do so.

Iwas told my number is already registered…but it`s NOT working!

BT did make me aware this registration whould not stop all cold callers.But if they do not withold there number ring 1471 write down the number and ring your service providor and have the number blocked.

Again today I had a witheld number with that computerised voice saying it was a BT text message service.Clearly BT have told me it is not them they do not withold there number ever.I just put the phone down.
