Capaxone

Good Evening All,

This may sound stupid but I started Capaxone last Tuesday and since yesterday I have been feeling really sick and I have no idea if it is related or not. Does anyone have any idea?

Do not have any other problems with it. I would phone my MS nurse but they always take two days to answer questions.

Also if it is related or not does anyone have any remidies for feeling sick as I have no idea what I could take to stop it.

Many thanks

Claire

Hi Claire Not sure whether the sickness is related or not never having had the drug. If you have any ginger biscuits in they relieve sickness/nausea for me - worth a try. Or peppermint? Hope you feelbetter soon Sue x

Hi Claire

It would be all too easy to say “No, it’s not Copaxone”, but one US website does list “Nausea” as a possible side effect - not common, but possible.

If you are only a few days into your treatment, it might be a good idea to ring your Copaxone Nurse, or the Connections helpline on 0800 085 1676 if the condition does not subside within another few days. After that, I would be onto my MS Nurse (as she is probably the person who acually writes out the script).

Geoff

Thanks Sue, I have tried the ginger biscuits as I remember them helping through both my pregnancies but its still there, I will try peppermint in the morning.

Thanks Geoff, I read all the info and did not find anywhere that said nausea could be a side effect so thats why I asked the question. I thought maybe it was something I had eaten but its been two days now so wouldn’t be that. My MS Nurse is also my Copaxone Nurse so will call her in the morning but know she won’t get back to me till Wednesday so will also try connections if I still feel like this in the morning.

Thanks again xx

Hi Claire

If you need it, the link that shows “nausea” is:

It might help if you get into a heavy argument.

Geoff

I didn’t have this symptom on copaxone but that’s not to say you won’t.

Bear in mind that there are a lot of gastro bugs around at the moment - it might be wise to persevere and see if it improves (in addition to contacting your MS nurse).

There is medication available for nausea which might help (prochlorperazine etc) if the copaxone does help but you are still feeling nauseous.

Good luck

Hiya.

yes connections is probably your best bet as you get straight through to them.Out of curiosity have you started baclofen recently as it took me 6weeks to stop feeling sick with that.

Hope you get it sorted

Pip
