Can we talk about Bowel Irrigation

Hi Hank Dogs, All good advice, I don’t eat prunes, but I do eat fruit, veg, walnuts, olives, good museli, porridge, all good fibre. I’m doing the abdo massage and when I’m doing the bowel irrigation I have to do the stomach pulling in and puffing, that’s what the continence nurse advice, so I’m doing everything I should, including 2/3 movicol a day, but at the end of a day I still need to do the anal irrigation as well, the continence nurse said it must be just the way my bowel is now, so thanks again, I do appreicate all your advice.

By the way, really hope you didn’t have any damage at you property, or near by, take care and stay safe.
Jean

Thanks Jean. No damage to our house, some roof tiles lost on houses down the road and a fair few trees down in the area

Well that’s good news Hank Dogs, my mother in law lives in Troon and it was pretty much the same there. Take care and stay safe, oh and have the best day you can.

Does it come and go then? I’ve been using Laxido every day and everything has been ok but over the last 2 weeks its not really been working

Hi SuzyD, Mine doesn’t come and go, my bowel doesn’t work the same anymore, I need movicol and the bowel irrigation everyday. Keep an eye on yours and if you need to talk to your MS team.

Hi Jean, don’t know if this is at all useful but I do the stomach pulling in thing throughout the day. When I’m standing at the sink washing my hands, brushing my teeth, when making a cup of tea , sitting watching TV, lying down in bed etc etc . In the hope that it’s all massaging my bowels, stimulating them and maybe helping to move things a bit.

Thanks Hank Dogs, anything is worth a try, I’ve been doing the bowel massage along with 2/3 movicol a day and the bowel irrigation. the problem I’ve got is that I just can’t move about enough, I’m in an electric wheelchair indoors, a manual one, or mobility scooter outside, depending on what I’m doing, my hubby pushing me the the manual one, can’t self propel, not strong enough
anymore. We have a galley kitchen so I can shuffle around that, which I do whenever I can. My fatigue is so bad I struggle to do enough exercise, so basically all that and the fact the MS has affect my bowel is a recipe for disaster
It’s nice coming on here though and getting some good advice, thanks again and have a good day.
