Hello!
I was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in October 2023 and started on Ocrevus treatment quite quickly. I have since been breaking out in a lot of spots, but just on my face, which is really rare for me as I’ve luckily never suffered with spots. I’m trying everything but they don’t seem to clear despite trying creams and ointments etc.
I’m getting married next year and would love my face to get back to normal.
Does anyone have any special tricks, creams etc to help!
Thank you x
Hi Molly
Unfortunately I have no advice but would love some as well I started Ocrevus in December and have had facial spots almost continuously since (never had them before even at puberty) I’m due my next infusion next month so will ask when I’m there will post back again if I gain any knowledge

Hi Molly,
I’ve been on it for a few years and up until had no problems, lately though I have on cheeks. I never really got them when I was teen even so it is a bit strange. There might be something connected. I’ll have a look.
Cheers,
Andrew

'Acne as a Side Effect of MS Medications

Another MyMSTeam member wrote, “I started Ocrevus … and started getting acne after my second half dose,” which sparked a discussion among some members. One MyMSTeam member shared, “I have never had skin issues, but I sure do now after my second treatment!” Another expressed relief to know they weren’t the only one, saying “I’m so pleased to read this … my skin is in full breakout!"

Aww seems so I thought was just a one off thing, hopefully it goes away for all of us!

’ Long-term side effects of Ocrevus
Some side effects may last long term and continue to cause symptoms after stopping Ocrevus.
For example, Ocrevus can increase your risk of skin infections. Your risk of skin infections will remain increased for as long as you receive Ocrevus. Certain infections, such as herpes infection, may last for longer than a year after you stop treatment.’
Sorry bad news,

I’m not on Ocrevus, but have heard it affects the hormones? I do suffer from acne, though, and have done all my life. I find Zineryt lotion helps a lot. It’s available on prescription.
I’m wondering if Kesimpta is also associated with acne? As far as I know it isn’t, but if it increases your chances of getting infections, then maybe it might have that effect.
ETA: just a thought, but might it be the steroids, rather than the Ocrevus itself? I believe you need to have a steroid infusion to prepare your body for the ocrevus.

I started breaking out a few months after my second Ocrevus infusion too. My dermatologist said immunosuppressants can mess with skin bacteria. What helped me was gentle cleansers, less dairy, and spacing out my skincare steps to avoid irritation. I also tried the Best morpheus8 rf microneedling treatment in all of Miami! I noticed my skin breaking out less and healing faster after flare-ups.

I’ve noticed acne flare-ups after starting Ocrevus too. It might be due to how the treatment affects your immune system. Using gentle, non-comedogenic skincare and consulting a dermatologist really helped me. If it gets worse, definitely talk to your doctor.
