This is what the NHS recommends; Vitamin D - NHS
The Barts Blog is reliable and worth reading.

Great article. It makes me sad that some neurologists don’t even advise any vitamin D supplementation or advise extremely low vitamin D supplementation. With proper monitoring the doses described in the article are very safe and actually very necessary for people with MS. People need to do some research and not only believe in what their neurologist / NHS websites / GPs say on the issue. The first neurologist I ever saw told me to keep to good levels for the rest of my life and that it’s absolutely necessary. I met a girl my age last year who could barely walk and was in the middle of a relapse and her neurologists told her to up her dose to 20,000 a day. She must have been severely deficient. But more doctors are catching onto this thankfully.
Interesting read, thanks. More questions for my MS nurse or neuro me thinks.
You need the vit D for your body to absorb the calcuim i believe, i am on same tablets.
I follow Dr (removed by moderator) on Youtube who is a leading expert in Covid. He has found that Vitimin D is essential and helps prevent getting covid.
also he explains the benefits of vititimin D,
the point too is never start to just take extra you need a blood test first. Too much D can be toxic.
Mine was 25. my blood tests showed good high level of calcium. I now take 1000 unit a day plus my calci chew. to be honest i don’t feel any different. Also i eat Kellogg special K fortified with D, and other things with D and i try to sit in sun ha ha, sorry joke for 10 minutes when it is out as its a natural source of D
there is no real proof of vit d and professionals are still arguing amongst themselves over the levels so what chance have we got really.
I follow (removed by moderator) too CC hes great isn’t he?
Vitamin D is good for protecting us from all respitory infections.I have been taking it for years for that very reason and i never get coughs or colds.
Vitamin D is often talked about as an important vitamin that helps the body stay fit and strong, but it could also help in the fight against multiple sclerosis (MS). While there still needs to be more research into the beneficial effects of vitamin D, there are some things to know about its relationship with MS. More on https://www.vitasave.ca/
Yes. I take high strength vitamin D to treat my arthritis.
