Urgent work HR question

Hi

I am well aware that they are not my friends and in fact they really are not nice people. My manager has been having a go at people telling them to do what they are told, working additional hours unpaid and being prevented tea breaks due to work loads which are difficult to meet should you take a break.

He keeps telling everyone “if you don’t like it, good luck finding a job in this climate” and is creating a culture of fear. He has already had a pop at a colleague who has a chronic ear condition which keeps playing up and I have heard him discuss the way how he “plans to move him on”.

I informed the DVLA years ago and I have to get reassessed for a new licence every three years, which I have never had a problem getting. The place is a joke to work in and I think that I have to come to terms with knowing that my working life there is soon to be over. It’s not a loss really, they are that bad that they have a golly wog keyring hanging up only yards away from where a black guy sits at his desk. There is no one to complain to, just have to put up with the bullying I guess.

Another poster recently posted about working and he doesn’t see what all the fuss is about. Well I have two kids to support and need to pay my rent every month so there is a lot of fuss for people like me who can’t get a single dime out of the system.

If somebody has some good tips on how to get signed off sick long term and what to say to the doctor for repeated sick notes then please tell me.

Oh it makes my blood boil when bosses think they are God! He really needs taking down a peg or two!

But back to you Anon, I`ve had PPMS 22 years and was a workhorse. I was best mates with the manager, until I faltered…I fell a lot and fatigue was massive. I found out how pally we really were then!

I went on the sick for a week…and never went back. My GP put debility on my sick notes, as MS wasnt diagnosed for years, but was suspected.

I worked for the local council and they couldnt discriminate.

I feel for you.

Are you actually unable to do your job because of ill-health or are you very unhappy with the job/management?

If you’re unable to work because of sickness then you go to the dr who will sign you off until you’re better. You don’t initially ask for repeated sick notes but if you don’t get better then you will have repeat sick notes.

Someone with m.s. is covered by law re. disability rights. Have you checked this out (google) - reasonable adjustments have to be made - you can’t just be sacked because of a health problems.

My whole body is itching permanently, and its driving me mad. I am also exhausted all the time .
