So confused/stressed!! help please!

Yes yes steroids are hideous. they also suppress the immune system so can make it more likely for you to catch something.

my symptoms havent got worse, although i did just bang my head on the slanted ceiling in my bedroom…well done bex…so now my head hurts :frowning: boooo. The exercises my physio has given me for my bad knee injury which the inflammation has made worse is helping a little make the knee stronger.

Dont get me wrong i woild love to speak to my neruologist but he never ever returns my calls. I am still waiting for a phone call re: my blood test results but nooooo he has decided to not call. His secretary said she has left him 2 messages to call me so guess there is nothing i can do now :frowning: Why are neurologists so hard to get hold of?

Yes ur right i am trying so hard to be positive but i have times where im like omg this is taking ages!!

Karen…u mentioned ADEM, however my GP said usually this follows a virus with a fever, and that fevers are common features of this, I did have a virus but my temperature was only a degree or so higher…do you agree with him or think he is just saying it?

Bex x

I haven’t a clue Bex. All I know is that ADEM typically arises from a virus, infection or vaccination. I’m not sure about the temperature bit.

Kx

Hi Bex.

As they’ve said up there ^, your Neuro isn’t definite so is adapting a partial watch and wait programme and keeping their options open for a 2nd scan. But you do have evidence that suggests it’s the cause of your symptoms. Lol, some on here would call you lucky!

Blinking heck! Have just looked up ADEM. And to think I had a temp of 104 with a kidney infection as a teen, chicken pox for the 2nd time at 31 (temp 102 then passed out), and swine flu (no idea, too ill to take it) at 41 … was super ill with all three and had no after affects at all - how lucky am I? (Ok, that’s after the usual 5-week malaise while you catch up again, and had two apparently typical chest infections after the swine flu - my first and second ever hard upon one another)

Sounds like you might have had Strep A. It can do some damage …

Two of my kids get Scarlet Fever with it! Not the other, oddly.

I get peritonsullar abcesses otherwise known as Quinsy. I’d rather have Scarlet Fever.

yea i been thru alot in last 6 weeks. u think im lucky? how come lol

yea before all this started i just had a v sore throat and a massive gland in my neck swollen and a slight temp thats it!!

so weird how the body works. wat is sTREP A? i had glandular fever when i was 18 and thought it might have come back but it came back negative in the blood test!!

Cant really answer your questions but just wondering how you get to read your neuros notes, id be interested to read mine because he tells me not to worry then sends me for another scan

Hello Sheena

I hope you are well. That was a quote from the letter the neurologist sent to my GP and copied in too.

Im going to have another scan in 3 months to check the inflammation has receeded. If that is the case then it is unlikely to be MS and more likely to be a viral infection.

What are your symptoms?

It started with my face going numb, which is quite common and often no one ever knows why it happens, but then my arn started shaking so then I got sent to the nerologist. Since then Ive had pins and needles in the same arm (but the GP reassured me as it was for less than 24hours probably just a trapped nerve) then started getting these rather odd pains in my head - they don’t last long but are very weird. Im sure im just worrying about everything, and they probably arent connected to each other but I just want some answers so I can stop worrying.

I hope you get the all clear after your next scan.

Yea that doesnt sound like MS but then again i havent been diagnosed yet either. My symptoms started with odd sensation in my legs and a bit of back pain and then got a lil worse so i had scans and they found patches of inflammation in my neck back and brain! so u got off lightly!!

Hopefully this is all a one off but no one can predict the future. Fingers crossed that i am ok

What happened to our id’s up there? My replies are from an ‘inactive user’ I was reading one and thought 'boy, this person is JUST LIKE ME,

Oh and Strep A (streptococcus A) causes a sore throat, not a very bad one by all accounts, and gives off an enzyme, some folk are not good with this enzyme and get Scarletina, which is a precursor to Scarlet Fever. Antibiotics needed.
