So glad you slept. Never heard of a link and a quick Google only got me one anecdotal result. However, it isn’t, as you know, anything more than a very short term solution. If it is the physical sensations keeping you awake, you could go back to the GP and ask to either increase your amitriptyline dosage, or consider gabapentin or pregablin. Other things I use as well: audio book and ear buds both to drop off and for when I wake in the night so I don’t disturb hubby; magnesium spray for tight muscles; mindfulness (during the day, but the effect seems to last) and kicking hubby out so I don’t worry about waking him and because you always sleep better on your own.
Amitriptyline gives me terrible jerking arms and legs (rls I guess?) and I’ve got done gabapentine from a very disinterested nurse who gave me little information on how to use and it’s dosage. They haven’t helped either.
The zopiclone last night was like a little piece of heaven in my recent nights from hell. I feel so much more able to cope today.
Thanks for ‘listening’.
Ps…apart from addiction…why couldn’t I be on zopiclone long term?
Ive also googled and found the drug Baclofen ? Is this helpful for spasms and burning numbness?
Because it simply stops working. Your body adjusts to it but because you are addicted you still want to keep taking it even though it doesn’t help anymore.
I don’t quite understand your comment about gabapentin, have you tried it? Gabapentin and Pregablin are what is usually prescribed for unpleasant neuropathic sensations and help most people. Also, how much amitriptyline are you taking? Are you sure the problem with your legs is a side effect and not a symptom?
I love zopiclone. I have it on my repeat prescription but have to eke them out because as Teal says, they’re habit forming and can mean you have to keep upping the dose. So I try to take them only once or maybe twice a week. The lower dose still works for me and I’ve been taking them for 5 years.

Sorry teal, there was a typo.
Before I had my scan, before Christmas, and with a cast of thousands coming for the season ( love them to pieces but it was all too much) I asked the nurse for something to help with these painful burning numbnesses. (Sp ?)
She gave me some Gabapentin but without much info on how and when to take.
I’ve been taking 300 mg a day and this has done nothing really.
Regarding amitriptyline, even the lowest dose of 10 mg gives me this jerking. Over the years I’ve had that problem with several sedating drugs. Now it’s made me wonder if the rls was there all along and some drugs are just exacerbating it?
Thanks anyway.
300mg of Gabapentin isn’t very much.
