The one I have contains calcium but only 7% per recommended daily dose so it shouldn’t affect even at 10x that
Spacejacket, you’re so right a lot of animal stuff seems to cross over. When I was waiting for a script for Dantrium, I looked for doseage online - horses & dogs came up on google before humans!

I have joined the facebook page too. I like the idea of bulk powders too Spacejacket. I really hope all goes well in the news we all have our hopes up

Sonia, The dry dog food l feed my brutes contains vitamin d3 - and this is years ago. l do think we should all be treated by vets - we would get better treatment.
News not as good as we thought I feel aick
only 12% of people showed improvemen with the drug although 67% showed stabilisation is that really enough over a year for progressive patients
Basically out of 100 people in the Md arm 12 people improved on a objective level edss and time walk
out of the 100 people 4 people progressed during the year! How is that good enough? Especially over a year for progressive patients you would expect some edss and timed walks not to change in slower cases of progressive disease
not good enough
Any improvement is good enough Kris 12% - and 67% stabilisation for progressive ms. And with only a supplement.
This result is better than most get from dmd’s. And without all the associated health risks.
Now they might find something else very similar that works as well - lts a start - and nothing to do with any other ‘miracle’ cures.
I think it was the previous trial showing a 90% plus improvement that got everyone excited
i know what your saying but in reality some people don’t progress on edss over a year so the slowed orogression isn’t that great
i would love to hear Barts neuros take on this
I don’t think it’s a bad result… but more importantly is that a few years ago they weren’t doing any trials for progressive MS. In fact it was like they really didn’t care. It was all for RRMS.
I’ve seen a much greater emphasis on looking at progressive MS & lots more trials just over the past couple of years, thanks mainly to the Progressive Alliance.
That in itself is very encouraging… so don’t be downhearted. Every single trial adds to their knowledge of progressive MS & leads us closer to treatments that will work.

uou are right I suppose at least it’s a treatment of sorts, my thinking was if its a good treatment then it wil give all other companies a kick up the arse as they would hate for one company to monopolise the markwt
really the next big ones to look out for look to be phenytoin as a neuro protective, gnbac1 and possibly HAART therapy as used in aids
I think it’s really encouraging With things changing so much for me, as soon as a neuro felt DMDs were a possibility and discussed 3 with me, I chose Tecfidera, not just because it’s a pill but because it slowed progression for some people.

This is from todays Barts Blog.

On the Biotin for Progressive MS facebook group - we are searching for a reasonably priced source of Biotin for everyone - so far it looks as if there is a possibility of getting it for about £15 month. Early days - but l am amazed at the power of the people.
l have not taken the high dose yet - l am still on about a third - and l have noticed a difference. l am more energised and certainly stronger. Noticed to-day - that l could manage to vacuum without holding onto my rollator. And l have been walking away from it in the kitchen as if it does not belong to me. Pride will come before a fall l know. Haven’t said anything to my friends and family - might wait and see if they notice. Already, to-day l have had people compliment me on my hair and skin!!
Bought some earlier it’s d biotin the most active form but it’s costing £2.50 a day for 100mg
It is important to avoid the tablets with calcium. I have found capsules contain biotin powder. Pure encapulations or Swanson Biotin are capsules which contain biotin powder without the calcium fillers.
I have more strength too. I have been so much stronger on my rowing machine.
The results were not as positive as I had hoped but still much better than anything else available to us!
I have read though that they give false results for thyriod testing. False high readings for T4 and low false readings for TSH. I did have this which would explain the obsurdly high T4 levels and I dont have high T4 symptoms .

What is the issue withthe calcium containing ones?
Because you would be taking too much with the amount of Biotin you need. The ones l am taking also contain Calcium - did not realise. So l am taking Vit K as well which sorts ou the calcium.
l swallowed a spider to catch a fly!!!
Shall get the Swansons one next.
Hopefully soon we shall have a cheaper pure source.
l am certainly getting about better. Glad l did not risk taking Fampyra now -
I’m taking
vit d3 5,000
omega 3
mitoq
biotin 100mg
magnesium
thats the lot right now, although it looks a lot there
Several Biotin supplements available without calcium - this is used as a ‘filler’ for the capsule. Swansons do one with calcium also Healthy Origins. And there are many more.
