During my PM discussions with the mods and Web team this week it’s become apparent that the content of these forums is monitored (note monitored not censored) for the reasons suggested.
Despite a freedom of speech policy, they really aren’t keen on anything off the beaten track currently being discussed in any great detail or length. The MSS can’t be seen to be associated with anything not currently authorised by NICE or considered outside of whats ordinarily accepted for MS. Meaning the content of these forums are guided in such a way that they tow a particular line.
This was actually part of what I was here to find out.
EJC - yes, you are wrong. You wanted a forum where you could promote your position without any interference from those of us who like to have some evidence to support outrageous claims. This would never happen for one simple reason: if it’s on this website, some of us will comment whether you like it or not. And why would we need another forum anyway? As you’ve already been told, there is nothing that is taboo on this forum: we discuss all sorts of things, including alternative therapies.
Also, of course the content of the forum is monitored (and the mods do an excellent job), but the only way that the MSS could actually shape the content of this forum is to have people working for them in secret - starting threads and using some sort of unknown tactic to bring them to a close, and doing this without even the mods knowing. The idea is ludicrous.
Well, EJC, I hope that you have found your fishing expedition to be satisfactory.
Full marks for honesty, but most of us come on here for reasons other than deliberate up-winding. Most of us come on here for companionship and mutual support in a spirit of trust and goodwill. Ulterior motives don’t go down too well.
