I suffer with migraines (chronic migraines according the my neuro) and I got a bad one on friday… but I am now feeling so ill… i’ve still got a bad headache (although the flashing lights and stragne vision loss has gone) I feel sick, not just sick, but really ill!! I’ve hardly been ablt to function properly and since last night I now have chest pain… not heart, it’s more over the the right side, but its painfull.
I juts want to curl up in a ball and make it all go away!!!
I feel ill, sick, painful head, painful chest, painful legs, tired… oh so tired and did i mention ill!!!
When I have a bad one, I often feel terrible for days and even when the headache goes, I get a “migraine hangover” that lasts at least another day.
Domperidone has been a life saver for my nausea - you could ask your GP for some to try? It has other names, but I can’t think what they are, sorry.
I know when I feel sick, it’s usually my stomach or migraine-related nausea to blame and not my MS.
I hope you’re feeling better.
Karen x
PS My headache specialist neuro recommended I try 400mg vitamin B2 a day for migraine. I built up to 400mg over a few weeks and it has made a HUGE difference! I now get a fraction of the migraine I used to. It doesn’t work for everyone, but might be worth a try?
I’ve just been the Dr’s… this is the worst migraine I’ve ever had!! The Dr gave me Domperidone for the sickness, so fingers crossed ! I think I’ll also try the B2 as you’ve suggested Karen, definitely worth a try, if it doesn’t work then nothing lost!!
Dr also gave me Sumatriptan, but on the strict instructions I don’t take more than 2! If the migraine soesn;t go away the to contact the Dr’s again… Hope it does…
Got to make a headache diary now… on top of all my other symtpoms it’s going to be difficult!!
I really sympathize and send a big “unknown” hug of support. Ive had terrible migraines with accompanying neurological disorders (including visual disturbances, cant find words or speak properly to numbness on one body side) since I was a teen. Its awful and scary each time anew. After trying different things in the end a huge dose of 1gram of paracetamol the moment I notice the first vusual disturbances helped me most. Sumatriptan causes major constipation so be really careful with it. Domperidone may help with sickness tho.

Caro, it’s awful isn’t it? I got my first migraine at 17… thought I was dying!! I’m 42 now and neuro has told me I have Chronic Migraine, but not give me anything for it!! This one was so bad though, and lasted for so long I had to see GP. (I too get the visual disturbances and lose word finding skills completely!! Very scary!)
I took the Simatriptan and it actually made my head worse! I though my head was going to explode!! It lasted for about half and hour, then subsided back to the original headache I had before. and I’ve still got it now!! It’s juts not leaving me alone! Although it’s seemed to have moved over the other side of my head?? Is this a different migraine starting now??
I am sorry the Simatriptan didn’t help. I take amatrip to try and prevent migraines and the simatriptan at onset and found them pretty good usually.
Migraines are just the most miserable things. I have been hospitalised with them a couple of times and then people say ‘o I get headaches too’ and I feel slightly murderous! Anyway I would go back to the GP, I am sure there are more options available. Fell better soon xx
I get the same type of migraine as caro and FeeHutch, they can last up to 5 days with another 3 or so ‘hangover’. Triptan don’t work for me anymore, I’m on betablockers now, also use domperidone, and following Karen’s B Vitamin advice, and I’m glad to say they have reduced in frequency and severity. Anyone who says its just a headache needs to try it for a day or five! I really sympathise, on top of everything else, its a really sh1tty thing to deal with. I hope it eases up soon xx
