Where to buy a wheelchair

Has anyone used World of wheelchairs to buy a chair? I’m trying to find out if they’re legit before I part with my money

Do you have a website for them? “World of wheelchairs” doesn’t throw up a direct match.

I think the fact you are questioning if they are legit says something.

What makes you think they are not?

They sell ex demo chairs as well as new ones. I’m suspicious because nkne of th contact buttons work. I’ve emailed them asking for a phone number. They use PayPal so I’m guessing they’re ok…

Paton, honestly if something about the site doesn’t work then maybe think twice.

My advice do a bit more research, your wheelchair is an investment. If you can try before you buy that would be better, there are lots of mobility shops that will let you try in the shop.

Thanks. I want an all terrain chair to have as an option for those days when I can’t walk very far.

A search for World of wheelchair came up with a site that looked embryonic and very suspect.

I have used

uk-wheelchairs.co.uk

for a rollator. They were reasonably responsive and accept normal forms of payment. Any large company that only takes PayPal raises my suspicions.

I would suggest you need to try before you buy, especially if it is anything beyond a cheap foldable transit chair.
In the U.K. we would suggest you asked your MS nurse for a referral to the wheelchair service. Even if they couldn’t help or you wanted something superior to what they offered, you would be better informed customer.

If you are not a standard size this all becomes even more important.

I’ve looked today at https://worldofwheelchairs.com/ and the site appears to be working.

Going to the Terms & Conditions page, World of Wheelchairs appears to be a trading style of East Riding Ltd, 8 Victoria Street, Goole, East Yorkshire DN14 5DZ who also have another website https://www.eastridingmobility.co.uk/. It describes itself as a family-run business with over 15 years experience in the industry.

Looks legit and they have 2 showrooms in Goole and Hull. Are you intending to visit and sample the products on offer?

If I was buying I would check from the trusted family end not the slightly suspect poorly written website.
May be legit in the same way uk-wheelchair has premises in Torbay. But not ordering through credit card is always a red light for me.

Down to me being an analyst in my day job and so being suspicious.

Thank you. That’s really helpful. I want an all terrain self propelled chair to use occasionally. I’ll ring them tomorrow.
