I’ve been diagnosed a few months back and wondered what treatment people find gives the least side effects as I am trying to be able to manage ms and be able to continue to work for as long as possible. I have quite a physical job (groundworks) thanks
Each of the DMTs requires you to know your own side effects.
You get more than other people or fewer.
For example when I was self injectin twice daily I needed to feel calm and relaxed before stabbing (sorry) jabbing myself or else it hurt.
Tecfidera requires me to think more about food, luckily peanut butter (magnificent invention) is always at hand, convenient and keeps the flushing at bay.
Find out what the side effects are likely to be, find ways to minimise them and away you go.
Good luck.
I hope you get many more replies and from people who are fully awake, I’m half asleep!
I’m on Tecfidera. Taken twice a day with breakfast and dinner, occasional flushing when I started over 2 years ago, but nothing to note since.
Hi, I have been on aubagio now for 4 years and the only side effect I had was a horrible type of flu, lasted 5 days and then went as quickly as it came. That was after 6 months of aubagio and thankfully I have not had any of the other side effects mentioned.
Hello Bdunc14
Welcome to the forum.
It’s a good idea to check out your options. Have a look at https://mstrust.org.uk/about-ms/ms-treatments/ms-decisions-aid
Once you’ve found out the options and decided what you’d prefer to take, talk it over with your MS nurse and/or neurologist.

I have had ms for just over 12 years and am now currently on tysabra. Only started it in December 2021 and it is going fine. Hope you find out all you need to help you in your decision.
